Is anyone else twitching, today, I have bought a present for a young adult who is friends with my DD’s and is just a really nice human being and doesn’t get a lot presents from anyone else.

eos body lotion for one of my daughters, taken as an idea of thread on here as well as scarf for another DD and a republic perfume set from look fantastic that was on offer.

Anyone else seen any extras or any good deals for presents.

Not yet, but i will! In saying that I've been a bit disorganised this year for no real reason- im always the opposite.

Namechange8240 · 21/12/2025 10:16

Of course! I can't help but twitch for my DC...

Last week it was a watercolour paint set and paper for DD9 and a Minecraft playset for DS7.

Yesterday a couple of additional stocking fillers - Jurassic World Lego mini bag for DS and a Harry Potter notebook for DD.

Now I am definitely done 😁

shellyleppard · 21/12/2025 10:18

I have blocked the Lego site cos I can't stop spending on there 😂😂

gamerchick · 21/12/2025 10:21

Me. I've gone way overboard this year than I do usually. I think it's an overcompensating thing due to missing a kid but I really wish someone would come over and tie me up today Grin

SharpLemonShark · 21/12/2025 15:34

Well, DH called me upstairs an hour or so ago to show me his “twitches” for our 2 dc. He’s got them 4 more gifts each 🤦‍♀️

We’d finished wrapping the other day and the “piles” (hate that word thanks to so many sneery MNers) may not look like loads but that’s because they’re teenagers. There are some pricey enough things in those small packages!

That said I’m pretty impressed by his choices, especially for dd15 who he finds a bit harder to buy for than ds13.

Moonlightfrog · 21/12/2025 16:46

I twitched a few days ago and bought dd a painting by numbers set and a pair of joggers. No more though, I am done and I have gone way over the top this year 😬.

QueenStevie · 21/12/2025 16:46

I've been waiting for a twitching thread! I twitched in new look and bought DD a dress earlier. Although we have just finished wrapping hers and In quite satisfied now. We need to wrap other family later but we have all made an effort to cut back this year so hoping I can stick to that. Haven't done a food shop yet, but I usually end up twitching about some food or drink.

ITSSSSCHRISTMASSS · 21/12/2025 17:04

im fighting the twitch, the 23rd will be my big test. Our plans have changed, one of my DDs has been very unwell, and we’ve managed to get her a consultant appointment before Christmas, afterwards we will be hanging around the shopping centre close to the hospital for DH and my other DCs who will be visiting Santa. I know she’s going to want to visit certain shops that will be hard for me not to twitch in.

SwedishEdith · 21/12/2025 19:38

I just have. 2 x daughters so for lots of stocking filler stuff, it's easy enough to double up. But just wrapped and noticed one had more to open than the other. I know it shouldn't matter but I really hate them not having the same number of presents. It's probably only me who notices.

Redhairandhottubs · 21/12/2025 19:53

I’ve twitched today and bought a Lego set for DS1 and some Uggs for DS2

Allromanticsmeetthesamefate · 22/12/2025 00:03

So I have done all my wrapping and twitched off the back of that as middle DD’s main pile was looking a little weak compared to the other two. Bought a Hollywood mirror and a pair of burgundy flared adidas joggers, I also have a scarf still to wrap for her and will buy a big bag of chocolate and then that should be fine.

Youngest DD was missing the two things that I had put DH in charge off, Fino hair mask, and Beauty works hair spray, now ordered and on their way so. Not really a twitch but feels like one.

I twitched yesterday and bought my DH a top (it was in a sale so felt fair enough) and my mum a bag (I hadn’t got her loads yet so again feels fair enough).
I’m just about staying strong on the kids - they’re both young so still get a lot from family etc so I don’t want to overwhelm them with loads from us too but it’s so hard 😬

Tobycarverysquad · 22/12/2025 05:29

Massive twitch after wrapping and realising piles weren't even. Bought an extra couple of stocking fillers for DS1 (mechanical pencil and face cleanser), push up mat for DS2 and Fino hair mask for DD2 (after seeing it on this thread 🤦).

duzzlightyearsmum · 22/12/2025 07:41

I twitched for DD and now 'need' to twitch for DS14 otherwise their piles will be uneven! If anyone has any twitching inspiration I would be bery grateful!

RhaenysRocks · 22/12/2025 07:46

Yeah, I'll be doing that today. Compared to previous years my teens' presents are incredibly few in number, like 4/5 each but add up to about £200 each. My DD especially is so easy to buy lots for. I'm going to the shops to pick up one specific thing but I know I'll twitch.

Sweetiedarling7 · 22/12/2025 07:54

I have always known twitching as bird watching.
Where has this new usage come from?

It has been a MN thing for many years. I'm not sure it's in use commonly outside of MN.

Ah! I see. Thank you.
