Afternoon Tea Voucher London for PIL

PIL in 70s can’t walk too far. They have a voucher to use for a theatre tickets from last -year we didn’t buy it for them. They have said they don’t want another one because they can never book anything or it’s rubbish seat and they have to pay for the train /hotel/ extension on the voucher.

anyway now they has asked us to get them an afternoon tea voucher for when they go to London!

No idea where they are staying or what show they will see and how on earth they will get around.

which is the best voucher to get them? I think
it needs to be one for
multiple locations. Is caffe concerto any good or a bit crap? Was thinking the Wolsey would be lovely.

Don’t send them to Caffe Concerto. Wolsey is better. Theatre Royal Drury Lane does afternoon tea in a lovely room.

Fortnum and Mason- close enough to the West End.

Would be nice if you offer to book their train tickets too? Make it easier on them

Is caffe concerto awful? It’s just has multiple locations but it just looks like a chain coffee shop and a poor one

Yes awful

Absolutely not Caffe Concerto.... it's horrible

Claridge's is best, but you do need to book well in advance to get your preferred date.

For that reason, I agree that Fortnums might be preferable, and the quality should still be pretty good.

As for getting around London, that's easy because there are black cabs everywhere, and they're nice and spacious.

Do you mean pay for the train? Or just organise? They will book their own train -FIL is train obsessed and will do this -and it’s pretty pricey.

I’m feeling a bit jaded. They are lovely but they have had few of these vouchers and it cost them a fortune to actually use them. The vouchers are pretty cheap and have many restrictions. They won’t get cabs anywhere as they are “too fancy” and don’t have uber and can’t really manage the tube so they get busses. They tried to get to Canary Wharf to get to a restaurant and it took them 3 hours on a bus.

I think I’ll wait i till they have booked the hotel and theatre and then find a solution that will work. I will make a lovely voucher to go with it for Xmas

thankful they have asked BIL not to buy another voucher !
