‘It wouldn’t be Christmas without …..’ (food/drink related)

Putting my shopping list together. I love Christmas, and we have lots of favourite festive foods/ drinks, but we do tend to have tbe same things each year. What is the one thing ‘it wouldn’t be Christmas without’ in your house?

For me, it’s Baileys, the only time I ever buy it and Stollen.
My adult DC expect Nutella on the breakfast table, a throw back to refusing to buy it when they were kids but Santa always left a jar.
DH is quite happy as long as I’ve made a fruit cake.

What means Christmas to your family food and drink wise?

Snowball

It was worth starting this thread just for that. My Mum didn’t really drink but always had a snowball or a babycham at Christmas/New Year. I’ll give babycham a miss but am now craving a snowball!

Sprouts.

It’s the only time those little green balls of bitter nastiness are allowed in the house. DH is the only person that likes them.

MogsChristmasBoiledEgg · 20/12/2025 21:03

Chocolate Orange
Pigs in Blankets

And agree fully on the Baileys.

We have cranberry sauce all year round with roast chicken, but bread sauce only at Christmas, not sure why

Cashew nuts and bucks fizz made with innocents orange juice whilst turkey cooking and presents opened. (that'sactually my breakfast)🤭

puffyeyewink · 20/12/2025 21:07

M&S cranberry and orange bucksfizz… except this year they’ve not done it so we will have to be without it!

We have it with breakfast and then as arrival drinks (we host) every year, it’s delicious and this year they’ve not done it! They’ve done a crappy festive fizz thing that looks like alcoholic ribeana. Gutted.

Oh yes, there’s a family recipe stuffing that my MIL passed to me and now it’s not Christmas without! This year we escalated it to some pre Christmas sausage rolls too.

I recommend Sainsbury's Clementine fizz. This year it is again a winner for me.
