My mum had an x ray done in October following years of hip pain which she avoided investigations. The x ray shown up quite a large hip tumour but appearances seemed like they were benign. 10 weeks later she was seen in orthopaedics after a referral from her GP, we was reassured as the consultants impression was it is likely to be benign but was told she is at risk of fracturing her hip with the lesion. She was sent for an MRI scan, she had the MRI on Wednesday of this week and yesterday the tumour service called to say she needs an appointment with the consultant on Monday. I’m terrified and thinking all kinds especially as all they told Mum on the phone was that it was a fairly urgent appointment and to bring someone with her for support. Has anyone else had experience on their MRI results coming back quickly but it turning out OK?

I haven’t had this experience but tumours even big ones that are cancerous aren’t always terminal. If the cancer hasn’t spread it may be easily operable and your mum might just have a nasty op to get through.
sending positive thoughts. X
