I know it's a bit late...! But always find male gifts so difficult. Can anyone share any gift ideas?

A few pressies of mine that have been quite successful in the past:

  • an old map of our area (Etsy)
  • hot sauces set
  • wellys
  • new trainers
  • pub in a box

any idea appreciated!

Every middle aged man I know is into vinyl, so either an album by someone they love or a classic album from their early 20's. If in doubt, an old Van Morrison or Neil Young record usually goes down well.

Thanks Fofanta! Good idea (although I would have to buy the record player)

A wooly hat with caver's light on for dog walks/fireworks/other manly type things they can enjoy in a dark garden (!)
One of the electric maps with live feed of when the tubes are coming (only relevant in London ...except perhaps if you've made your DH move to a cheaper area with good schools and he is pining...now I feel sorry for this imaginary DH)
portable speakers unless he is very techy and would want to choose own speakers
hot flask/one of those pots you can put soup in, to take to work
A plain blue jumper from John Lewis. They all require them.

Amongst the requests from my lot this year have been a chisel set, some very specific bread-making paraphernalia and some named books. But every single one of them has said beer. You either have to know them very well or get them beer.
