He pretty much likes horse racing and football. Most conversations are football related. We've bought him racing post magazine subscriptions and shares in horses in the past.

He doesn't read books, doesn't watch much on tv other than sky sports, doesn't have other hobbies.

I've been looking around but really struggling for any ideas. We are in the north west so trips to places down south for stable tours or similar aren't doable and he already has a season ticket to his football team and has done the stadium tour. He doesn't really drink either.

I am totally stumped.... Any ideas gratefully received (I know it's very close to Xmas, I am desperate at this point!) thanks

Why is it your job to come up with ideas? Surely if it’s your FIL it’s up to your husband?

My DH is also stumped, he has asked his dad and has been looking, I'm trying to help and often I can come up with something but we are both stuck

Aintree tickets. Hospitality if you can afford it. Try the Donald McCain racing club. North west based trainer.

Thanks all for the ideas, a couple of you have said Aintree tickets, it's his birthday in March so it's a good idea to consider for his birthday. We would have to travel as much further north and we would have to take him but that gives us a bit of time to plan.

Really appreciate all the ideas!

I pay for my dad’s Sky Sports package. He’s similar to your dad, sports mad, so about 10 years ago I just told him I would start paying for it as his Christmas present every year
