Supermarket run on Monday - what isn't on my list yet?

Planning to dash to Lidl followed by Booths fairly early Monday. My list is very short so I'm sure I've forgotten something!
It's just us 4, with maybe 4 or 5 neighbours coming over on Tues afternoon. Turkey is coming from the butcher on Tues and a veg box on Weds.
So far I have
A few oven bits for Tues afternoon
Puff pastry (for a Christmas tree tear and share - already have mincemeat)
Fake Bailey's
Cheese
Stuffing
Pigs in blankets
Crisps
Fancy gravy
Fancy custard.

Already have a gingerbread house kit for after Christmas, brandy butter, Christmas pudding.

It's the day to day stuff that tends to get missed

Foil/cling film/sandwich bags
Batteries
Painkillers
Extra toilet roll/kitchen roll
Washing up liquid
Dish cloths/scourers

Ingredients for whatever meals you need for the rest of the week. Everyone focuses on Christmas Day and forget the rest of the week

Soft drinks
Bottled water

Breakfast stuff
Juice

Crackers for the cheese?

drspouse · 18/12/2025 20:41

I'm planning a turkey pasta bake for later in the week but we're up to our ears in pasta and tinned tomatoes. Then I'm out with DD (we're seeing Six, ssh it's a surprise!) and then probably a pub tea as we're going to see a country house lights display.
I have the Christmas eve tea sorted but I'll check the menu for Monday. After that I think we'll cope with going shopping again!

Is that an actual flavour?

In Ireland you can buy whipped cream which has Baileys in it. I think it’s only available at Christmas time. It’s delicious though!

SleafordSods · 19/12/2025 08:16

Sorry OP another who is blantantly placemarking for later.

Edited

Unfortunately we live in a John Lewis desert (the trade-off is we have Booths). They might stock it though so I'll check!

I already stocked up on flour and eggs and we get olive oil in bulk from Amazon (apparently I forgot we had some as we have 2 5l tins!) and that's what I use for roasties!

Don't bother with 'fake baileys', get some Coole Swan, its far superior. I used to drink Baileys occasionally until I tasted Coole Swan almost 18 years ago and I haven't bought Baileys since. First tasted it at Dublin Airport duty free where samples were being handed out, I enjoyed it so much I bought two bottles to take on honeymoon!! Ended up giving one bottle to hotel housekeeping in Vegas because she was so interested and curious about Ireland, she came back to tell us she had a glass with her husband and loved it.

You can buy Coole Swan from Amazon - I've just ordered a bottle because I've never heard of it before and your post has made me want to try it!

friedaddedchilli · 19/12/2025 10:19

What about the veg? Sprouts, carrots, parsnips, spuds?

Veg box is arriving on Tues (just checked - different day for that week only).

How about:
Mince pies
Smoked salmon
Chutney
Paracetamol
Part baked rolls or baguettes

DeanElderberry · 19/12/2025 11:31

I'm baking a small ham on Sunday. Sunday dinner, a little with leeks in cheese sauce on Monday, some slices with the turkey, cold slices for the afterdays.

So my list would include a ham.

Also fresh fruit and salad stuff.

Some fancy pre-made fishy things for Christmas Eve dinner.

Nuts. Dried fruit.

Strong second for paracetamol, with flu currently rampant, I was very grateful to have enough in the house last week when I was stricken.

Missingducks · 19/12/2025 12:58

My 'and another thing' list now includes Crabbies and marmite and spuds for jackets

Sillyme1 · 19/12/2025 14:34

I find stocking up on those part cooked bake in the oven rolls useful.
