Has anyone done an eco-friendly Christmas

Hi all,
This may be a bit of a long shot, but I’m curious whether anyone here has done or is planning a more eco friendly Christmas for their children.

I’m seeing a lot of Christmas lists at the moment that are very trend and plastic heavy, and it’s made me reflect on what I’d like to do differently. I don’t mean no presents or no fun, just fewer plastic bits, fewer trends, and more thoughtful or longer lasting things.

If you’ve done this, I’d really love to know:

• What was on your children’s lists?
• Did you include any everyone else has this items?
• How did your kids feel about it, especially compared with friends?
• Anything you’d do differently next time?

I know this can sound idealistic and that reality is often messier than theory, but I’m genuinely interested in real experiences rather than perfection.

So essentially buy less tat?

I don't think that I would describe how I celebrate Christmas, in that term. What I do, though, is not buy any presents for Adults, they can buy what they like for themselves. Once DN, and DN were of a certain age, I ceased buying for them as well. I do not buy presents for friends either. I do not send cards, as I consider them wasteful, and will just end up in the bin at some point, imo. I buy my usual food shop, I never have turkey, as I don't like it. There is very little food waste, as I am aware that food costs money. I enjoy Christmas, having a lovely meal, and spending time with my family. I see no need to spend excessively, and have never done so, getting toys for any children in the family when the sales were on, in years gone by. The consumer fest that goes on, does not appeal to me.
