You'll need to tell us a bit about him to get anything meaningful.

Does he like sports? Music? Games? Reading? Any other hobbies?

If yes, which ones. What previous presents have been a big hit for him? What is your budget?

Doughnuts68 · 18/12/2025 01:17

Just about any budget really. He likes gaming and Lego mainly although gaming has taken over more so I suppose

Get him a few small presents - chocolate, aftershave/spray, gadgets, socks etc - and tape £10//20 notes to each thing before wrapping (or cards for gaming / Greggs / sports shop / local shops)

Boys are hard to buy for so we’ve done this a few times - cold hard cash usually goes down well!!

Needspaceforlego · 18/12/2025 01:46

If he likes Lego then their must be something in the Lego shop for him?

Tickets to something?

Smart speaker?

Kimura · 18/12/2025 01:48

How about a gift card for the Lego shop so he can pick something himself now that he's getting older?

chillinwithmygnomies · 18/12/2025 01:51

A new headset, controller, gaming gift cards.

Boys are so hard to buy for, I’ve got boys and the older they get the more difficult it is.

My youngest (14) has asked for a new desk (for gaming) and a guitar.

Bjorkdidit · 18/12/2025 04:25

I wouldn't buy stuff for the sake of it.

Have a look at Lego and a game shop to see if there's anything you think he'll like. Also food treats and bits like a phone case, clothes, trainers etc. Anything for his bedroom?

Then if you've spent less than your budget, give him cash and suggest he look in the sales for ideas or he can put the money in his savings account until he sees something he wants or asks for something more expensive like a bike, tech or to start a hobby, at which time he'll be able to have/do the thing because he's got the money that wasn't spent on things he didn't want at Christmas.

I have a young relative like this. Never wanted much, people gave him money that didn't get spent and he ended up with about £2k in a savings account and after a few years he decided he was interested in a pastime that involves buying things that might be seen as a waste of money or expensive for what it is but he was able to buy loads of things because he'd not run out and thrown his money on any old crap any time he had some.

Has he got any of the Lego remote control cars ? My DS is same age - they are brilliant , you build it and then can control using mobile phone - they are really sturdy

Forty85 · 18/12/2025 06:40

My 13 year old was the same. This is what he is getting -

Soundbar for his gaming screen so he doesn't need to always wear headphones
Firestick
Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male aftershave
Montirex, Forty, Nike and Berghaus clothes
On cloud trainers
New Fifa for ps5
Knoops hot choc maker
Stuff for his sport he plays (ice hockey net, base layer)

Stocking
Guinness world record annual gaming edition
Ripley believe it or not annual
Lynx set
Gorilla hair powder
Fudge sea salt spray
Nike socks
Cleaning gel putty for keyboard
100 shapes magnet fidget spinner
Lightening reaction shock game
Nike socks
Sweets

Some other ideas I'm considering for his bday in January, air pods, new bike, young driver experience, other sport stuff.

MaraMar · 18/12/2025 08:30

New headset, thumb grippers for the controller, a new controller, gaming gifts cards, a stand for this headphones and controller, clothing merch from his favourite game, lounge wear (my gaming made children appreciated comfortable clothing 🤣)

Dolphinnoises · 18/12/2025 08:53

Which games does he like most? What are the best reviewed games of 2025 on his favoured console? What clothes does he need? New noise cancelling headphones/ earbuds? Books? Smart speaker?

cinnamonscented · 18/12/2025 08:56

My 14 year old loves Lego Star Wars so he’s having the Star Wars star destroyer….?
plus some gardening things as he loves growing things. My Mums got him one of those little greenhouses.

Doughnuts68 · 18/12/2025 18:19
