Gifts for husband

At a loss of what to get my husband for Christmas.

He’s stopped playing golf this year after I had an awful pregnancy and the birth of our second child (on going health issues for myself). He doesn’t like football/ watching other sports. Hates people getting him clothes.

I have budgeted about £200 left to spend.

Need something from the kids to him too…but I’m thinking of letting my four year old pick chocolates/ socks/ a new hat for him.

Golf lesson to get back into it?
(everyone needs lessons) - assuming you want him to get back into a hobby?

or tickets to a show/comedy show/event next year - plenty of time to sort out babysitter

didntlikeanyofthesuggestions · 12/12/2025 15:24

Box of chocolates and a homemade voucher for a cuddle and spend £195 on yourself.

He still has lessons left over from his birthday to use.

I’ve got tickets for a show, although booked them and then realised it’s not till 2027. I’ll have a look and see what else there is .

What about a weekend away, or a magazine subscription, good sheepskin slippers, a nice leather belt, or if he's into tech what about an Oura ring.

Raera · 12/12/2025 16:32

I just got my DH a soundbar for the TV for his birthday this week as he likes watching music DVD's of concerts we went to years ago.
Currently he's watching a Knebworth concert and the whole house is vibrating!!!
No good if you're in a terrace though

Dogmum6 · 12/12/2025 17:37

Record player ?

BigPurpleBookQueen · 12/12/2025 17:43

My husband is similar - I have bought some more expensive than usual treats that he likes, hotel Chocolat covered nuts, lakrids liquorice, some mini rums to try and a few other bits such as this.

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 12/12/2025 17:43

Insanely expensive lined leather gloves/cashmere jumper.

What are his interests more generally ? Current affairs, history, reality tv 😉

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 12/12/2025 17:47

Not my husband but bought FIL a cashmere beanie. Best present ever apparently. He wore it all the time and it was small enough to tuck into a coat pocket. MIL was unimpressed with me…
Sometimes it’s just the small things you’d never justify for yourself.
usually with any sport there’s a top of the range brand for “gear”. Does he have all the good rain gear etc?

MrsWallers · 12/12/2025 17:49

Can you just have a conversation with him and be totally honest that after such a difficult year you are totally at a loss at what to get him. Been with DH for 29 years maried for 27 I literally get him florentines (biscuits) from waitrose. Then we fanatsise about one day going away to a fancy 65 star hotel! If he feels loved he shpuld be fine with this.

I love those florentines from Waitrose.

Any chance there's an experience he'd like to try? Or a place he'd like to see (within budget ...travel does not need to be far away.or expensive)

Twittwoooodoyou · 12/12/2025 19:17

I have put together a year of dates for my DH. 2 dates a month, 1 at home and 1 out of the home. It has been really fun thinking of some of our original dates and using them as inspiration.

My husband also enjoys a snack bag every birthday and christmas. The kids will pick one of those giant novelty bags they sell in places like b&m and we find any new snacks, weird snacks and his favourites. Dh uses these snacks for work mostly so they live in his car.

Mamma2727494 · 12/12/2025 19:49

I was struggling too - I decided to be cheesy and ordered a key chain with an engraved photo of our family and I’ll gift it with some chocolate.

JDM625 · 12/12/2025 20:04

What are his other interests other than golf? Foodie, gardening, literature, gym etc?
Some ideas depending on his interests:
-https://www.giftsfromhandpicked.co.uk/christmas-gifts/bright-side-man-tin.html?gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=22850405938&gbraid=0AAAAAD6t3Z7b4tDbTfICEsR3n7mogFbud&gclid=CjwKCAiAl-_JBhBjEiwAn3rN7UrG1drHL3ZHax-qyQq5uIkT1REpwI784sW3FRGZD_SD_hvAn3cVZxoC-QgQAvD_BwE Yes, I know this is a bit gimmicky, but DH has all manner of BITS he stores in a tin I bought him 15yrs ago. Old type chargers, plug sockets, screws he finds around the house, allen keys etc. Funnily enough, we often find the thing we need in his man tin! The kids could fill it with treats to give him.
-Beef jerky, a chocolate orange or these jelly beans which are individually flavoured https://www.aldi.co.uk/product/dominion-original-jelly-beans-000000000400448001
-Baseball type hat for summer
-Scarf
-BBQ accessory kit or BBQ apron
-We bought step-FIL comedy golf balls once which explode when hit. We didn't get to the see the actual event, but he was fuming when he returned from the course 😆
-Magazine subscription
-An experience? Over the years I bought DH a learn to fly lesson, a gliding lesson and a sailing experience

Got my husband a new nice fleece, a bookmark with a light, nice bottle of whiskey and a glass, new insulated coffee cup and a new water bottle, plus usual socks and pants. Other ideas were replacement aftershave for one of his favourites, a new iPad case with built in keyboard as toddler damaged his, some new gym gear and some new batteries for his tools

ForGreenHedgehog · 13/12/2025 11:57

A decent pair of sunglasses? That’s what I’ve got mine 😂 -mainly because I broke his last ones x

Jok77 · 13/12/2025 18:03

Me and my husband agreed on a maximum budget of £25 and buy token gifts. 11 year old bought him Shrek pants (because dad looks like Shrek apparently). I've bought him a personalised car cleaning caddy. & chocolates. He's bought me pajamas and probably a diary. Then today we went out for a nice lunch while son played with his friends.
If we were spending £200, I would probably buy him a night in the hotel we had our wedding reception in.

Dragonmomof3 · 14/12/2025 20:28

I would take pictures of myself with some lingerie and you can print them yourself and give him the album

mamalovebird · 16/12/2025 08:49

Does he like live music? I've bought my DH concert tickets for an open air concert in July, plus he'll get some smellies and chocolate as sticking fillers.

Or is he into fitness/health? Last year I bought DH a portable sauna/steam tent as he runs every morning and already has an cold plunge tub so it was to go with that. Runitude Portable Sauna Tent | Runitude

I've got my husband a scaletrix track to play with the kids, can you think of something they can do together? Lego is always a hit in our house. I'm a fan of practical presents so I've also got him a beard trimmer as his old one is worn out. Experiences are also a hit here, my husband drove an ariel atom earlier this year and loved it.

Edited to add I also bought him a firepit for his birthday as the kids love toasting marshmallows with him

Mangomammy · 18/12/2025 14:40

thanks everyone.

I got tickets for a comedy show he will enjoy (cheap as chips at £35 for two tickets!), some novelty socks with the kids faces on them (ridiculous expensive socks for £20). A new coffee thermos for work, chocolates and a bottle of wine, and spend the remaining £100ish on some skin care products as he’s been moaning about dry skin and looking old/ tired (although I think the baby going for an overnight at granny’s will help with the tired eyes!).
