I’m really struggling for ideas for my dad. Presents need to fit in a small suitcase and travel well, but I feel like he has everything and have run out of ideas. Any help please?

New wallet? A book? Magazine subscription?

Does he have any particular hobbies or interests?

CeliaCanth · 09/12/2025 13:06

No ideas but I did laugh at the idea of men who can fit in a suitcase. Apologies for being flippant!

He doesn’t really have any hobbies which is why he’s so difficult to buy for.

MeouwKing · 09/12/2025 13:08

Is he an escapologist?

Burnnoticed · 09/12/2025 13:08

Well you'd need ideas for a chain saw first

And me! I thought of an Action Man...

ViaRia01 · 09/12/2025 13:09

My first thought was Ronnie Corbett

Elevenseconds · 09/12/2025 13:10

Warwick Davis?

I was instantly reminded of the MI5 agent found in a holdall, he was from my local area.

Lol oh dear OP, you made a very enticing thread title but its not getting your dilema sorted!

Nice quality pajamas/slippers/dressing gown. Puzzle book.

Me too, but not going to apologise as I needed a laugh today 😆😁

Small suitcase because he travels a lot or because he is visiting?

I have had great response to buying experience like ghost walks, underground walks, or historic pub crawls ect for people who travel a lot or just to do something different.... would that be something worth considering.

Well at least it’s given people a laugh on a dreary Tuesday.

He’s visiting and will only have a small suitcase with him. Travelling by plane.

exactly my first thought too!!
A subscription to something e.g. magazine, there's food / drink delivery type ones too.
Tickets for a concert / theatre / event
Socks
Aftershave
If it won't fit in a suitcase or travel well then order from somewhere local to him or do a click & collect nearby

GameofPhones · 09/12/2025 13:41

Posh torch, there are loads to choose from at all price ranges.

AutumnClouds · 09/12/2025 13:41

Lifts

OMGitsnotgood · 09/12/2025 16:05

Depending how long he’s staying, is there scope to make him a voucher for something to do while he’s staying with you? Eg trip to a National Trust property? Pub lunch? I say make the voucher so it’s not wasted if plans change.

or actual vouchers for somewhere local to where he lives.to use when back. .

if he has favourite sweets/chocolate bars/biscuits:beer/ spirits you can get miniatures for/small wines you could wrap some up to consume while he’s with you to increase his present pile.

pizzaHeart · 09/12/2025 16:15

you didn’t mention budget, age or habits, as he’s traveling I guess food and drink is out .
I think you need luxury variant of everyday item e.g silk/wool/ cashmere scarf/ hat/ gloves/ socks or fancy travel accessory.

Ormally · 09/12/2025 16:17

DH wanted a velcro container for a car key (for button ignition car) that blocks its signal as it kept opening or closing the car from inside the house if accidentally sat on or similar. It's something between a wallet and a soft specs case.
