DD (13) is asking for something fun and enjoyable for Christmas, but she doesn’t want an experience (she has plenty already), and she’s not into beauty or fashion.

I’m stuck for ideas for something she can use or do at home. She already has clay beads and isn’t particularly arty, but she does love science, sports, baking, cooking and general tinkering. She still enjoys making slime (she and her bestie still do this sometimes) or likes making things like lip balm, candles and similar hands-on projects. Any ideas would be hugely appreciated.

Lego? The Japanese bonsai and orchid are pretty and popular.

Origami set.

The Kim Joy cookbook.

Ice cream machine
EXIT escape room in a box
ThinkFun marble maze
Pictionary Air
Reverse tie dye kit
Fahlo tracking bracelet

Would she like tiny baking? My dc spent the few days after Christmas last year making teeny tiny cakes and pies with a set.

Would she like a sewing machine? Or, if she likes slime, she might like a nano tape kit where you fill your own squishy balls with different stuff.

Diamond art! Look on amazon there are thousands!

Lots of great ideas and haven't heard of some of them, thank you.

Which Kim Joy cookbook would you recommend @Trueloveneverdies ? There are a few.

Tiny baking sounds interesting, are there books @Stompythedinosaur ? Ice cream machine and nano tape kit could all work.

Engraving toolkit also sounds brilliant.

I’ve bought mine a “book nook” type mini model to build. I bought her the Rolife Honey Tea Shop set as it said it was good for beginners!
It was actually a recommendation on another Xmas thread

@nonnaAndnonno my dc got the Smart Labs tiny baking kit which I think had instructions alongside all the teeny baking tools.

But I've seen other books around.

A proper pen knife.
Kiwico kits.

I've got a 12 year old. I've got her a badge making machine and a book nook kit.

My DD 13 is getting tons of Lego for Xmas

nonnaAndnonno · 09/12/2025 12:01

What kind of lego is your dd into @AgnesMcDoo?
