Stocking fillers for ds6 and dd4....

I've been seriously struggling for ideas this year. Stockings in our house are from the big guy, so usually made up of little things they'd really like plus some chocolate and the obligatory orange. We don't spend loads, but it's the tat that they love that they think I wouldn't buy them, like flexi worms, moon balls, messy crafts etc.

Today they happily skipped off to the school fair with pocket money and have bought copies of genuinely EVERYTHING I'd bought for stockings. Did not think this through! If nothing else it's very validating that I was on the right track with my shopping...they've bought moon balls, flexi worms, top trumps, a little excavation craft kit and jewellery.

So, I'm back to the drawing board. I have two very gender typical children. DD4 is into crafts, colouring, jewellery, pretend make up, hair and things like that. She has a few jewellery and accessory making kits from her birthday. DS likes puzzles, balls, things that move, maths, reading, top trumps.

The things they bought today are Ideas I've had so far that they didn't buy today are some nail stickers for DD and a bookmark for DS.

Otherwise....please help!

We've yet to find any bath stuff which doesn't irritate their skin. Both have horrible eczema. Maybe crayons though, can't see them affecting the water much. Could anyone confirm?!

Maze pen and scented pens going on the list!

And you're totally right on the slime, that is the kinda stuff mummy wouldnt ever buy so the belief that it comes from the north pole is strong.

Ah those have gone down well here last year! I can recommend a game called shut the box if you don't already have it, great for hidden maths skills

This is a great list thanks so much!! The jokes would especially go down well. We got fake chewing gum a few years ago and I'd forgotten the mirth.

Am intrigued on how big is the stocking is to fit so much amazing stuff though! Ours are maybe quite small in comparison, they're not very wide at the neck so limits what can go in.

@Allsigns I confess it is a big stocking, it's the same one I had as a kid so 40 years old and still going strong. Stocking were the main thing in our home and I love doing them. Although if there's gaps i do stuff wrapping paper down the side to fill it out. I do small ones for the adults.

PurpleBettina · 08/12/2025 14:36

New tonie (depending on the overall spend on her main presents)
