20 year old woman gift

We are a family of boys (even extended family) and I am not into your traditional woman things, I don't use a lot of "products", wear make up, not into fashion (live in jeans!) etc so completely lost at what to buy ds's 20 year old girlfriend for Christmas. I also hate waste so wouldn't want to buy products she wouldn't use - wrong make up or whatever.

They have been seeing each other for 18 months and totally smitten.

Ideas I've suggested such as vouchers for things they have spoken about or do and I think they will enjoy ds has said no - local gym/spa 3 month membership they were talking about, cooking classes, steak house/meals out, maybe an experience etc. as he thinks they are presents for him rather than for her as an individual (he might have a point)

Ds has bought her her favourite perfume, some pandora bits and I think he got a hoodie so I don't want to get anything similar and ds has no ideas for what I can buy as he is still struggling to think of something else from himself.

Really lovely young woman, very family orientated, lovely hair/make up etc at uni to become a nurse, very responsible/mature/genuine, competes in traditional dancing.

Any ideas? Up to around £100.

£100 Space NK voucher. She will be thrilled.

Yes, I would stay away from make up. I always find it an odd present to be given as I like to try it out, colour match etc.

Some suggestions:

  • Hair accessories similar to what you have seen her wear
  • cashmere scarf
  • manicure voucher if you know where she likes to go or new polishes if she likes to do her nails at home
  • Audible subscription

You have said she is training to be a nurse, when I gave birth recently the midwives and doctors all had cute little trinkets on their uniform with their names. For example, a clip for a pen with their name beaded on. They were really cute and I assume gifts from family. I just searched “nurse accessories” on Etsy and that was the kind of vibe. It might show support and encouragement as she perseveres through the course.

second the space nk voucher! She will love it and can choose what she wants. If u go to the store to get it they provide a nice gift box and bag for it too

Screamingabdabz · 05/12/2025 18:08

I would buy her Christian Dior perfume - Miss Dior. It’s a universal hit. Go to John Lewis and they’ll bag it up in a pretty CD bag.

ChikinLikin · 05/12/2025 18:12

Bottle of fizz, cashmere socks, posh chocolates in a nice gift box.
Or a 100 pounds John Lewis voucher with some warm friendly words in the card.

A voucher. ASOS, or Space.NK.

JDM625 · 05/12/2025 18:22

-Voucher to a beauticians near her. (check reviews beforehand) she could then choose a massage, facial, nails, hair etc
-Voucher for a meal our or night away for both her and your son
-PENS! Nurses always need pens. There are some specific nursing ones and if she works in paediatrics, some cute ones.

Long shot as I know not all 20 year olds like Vinyls but we are getting DSs girlfriend a couple of Vinyls that he knows she wants. Also a Lego set - she collects Lego Botanicals.

LittleMissyHappyMe · 05/12/2025 18:38

If your DS lives at home & GF stays over then maybe add a little something that stays at your house & makes her feel at part of the family….
a personalised mug / wine glass, a pretty blanket / cushion for the bed / sofa.

WeAllHaveWings · 05/12/2025 18:38

Lots of good ideas/prompts, She doesn’t get her nails done, think it is because she is on placements and they are not allowed for hygiene reasons.

Instead of makeup…….perhaps decent make up brushes, are they very personal choice too?

My 20 year old loves a fancy drink bottle. If its eye wateringly expensive then it's probably a great gift! Owala and Yeti are her current obsession.

Whichone2024 · 05/12/2025 19:56

My neice is studying make up at college and one of the brands she loves is Bobbi brown.
just bought her this brush set on sale

Oh, and water bottle- Stanley are very popular with nurses where I work. Nurse fob watch also a possibility.

WeAllHaveWings · 06/12/2025 08:32

Thanks for all the mind provoking ideas, sometimes it just takes one thing to prompt something.

I ordered her a set of sigma makeup brushes (asked ds and he said she’d mentioned needing new ones before).

ds has stolen a couple of ideas for little things to add to her pressies too.
