Giving Tree Ideas for Teenage Boys

YourMotherSortsSocksInHell · 05/12/2025 15:05

We have a giving tree at work. I've noticed that most of the tags that have been taken are for younger kids or girls and it's mostly teenage boy tags that are left. I think this is sad, although maybe not surprising given some of the "gender disappointment" threads on here when a poster finds they're having a boy.

I don't currently have any teenage boys in my immediate circle so looking for some ideas apart from the ubiquitous Lynx gift set. Age ranges on the tags are 12-14 and 14-16. Price around £10-15.

Thanks

ETA. Only info on the tags is sex and age range.

I did something similar and they recommended high street vouchers for teenagers ( the ones that cover multiple shops). I also got a hat so they had something to unwrap.

Teens have usually outgrown Lynx

See, I have no idea, mine are a lot older. That's why I'm looking for more contemporary input.

My boys 12 and 14 still love lynx but also aftershaves from next, m&s, Zara. Also touchscreen gloves, notebook and pens, beanie hat, Greggs or Starbucks gift card, Nike socks and fluffy pyjamas. Also haribo sweets are a favourite

GreenGodiva · 05/12/2025 15:43

My teen boys always enjoyed Puzzle maze balls but is a very difficult age to buy for. Branded socks were also a hit, I often get them cheap from sports direct. They also liked a waffle maker and dry mix, and a popcorn maker.

Stompythedinosaur · 05/12/2025 15:45

I'd get a £10 greggs voucher and something small to open, like a game of uno flip or some chocs.

Shambles123 · 05/12/2025 15:47

Infinity spinner
Mini bluetooth speaker
Good socks
Weird food - freeze dried candy etc
Moon lamps
Rituals men shower foam
Uno no mercy

HopelesslyNaive98 · 05/12/2025 15:47

I don’t think you can really go wrong with cozy socks, a nice water bottle and chocolate/sweets as a fairly inoffensive but nice gift in that price range. TK Maxx good for socks and bottles!

Yes! Water bottles good, branded sport ones good

yorkshiretoffee · 05/12/2025 15:48

Is this for people who may not have all that much (i.e. might not have cooking facilities or the latest tech?)
Zara fragrances are really nice, I also like the Greggs giftcard, maybe alongside a selection box or other treats/snacks.
Mine used to like "cake in a mug" things (if they will have access to microwave) but I think I'd go for £10 voucher and £5 small gift alongside.

Needmorelego · 05/12/2025 15:55

The problem with vouchers is you don't know if they have the means to go and spend them (ie they have no way of getting to the shops).
Anything technology based (ie Bluetooth speakers) also no good because you don't know if they have compatible tech.
Ideas....
Small Lego Technic set
Sweets
Snacks that only involve needing boiling water to make (so pot noodle type things)
Maybe matching mug and fork for the snacks.
Book of interesting facts.
Cosy socks
Cosy fleece blanket.
Sketch book and decent pencils/pens
Yes to Lynx or similar 😁

Surely teens are the exact age range for lynx as preteens don't use bodyspray normally.

Sherunswithwolves · 05/12/2025 17:21

I bought Bluetooth headphones previously for a teen boy. Our local scheme doesn't just give the presents randomly, they are matched to someone so they are appropriate.

YourMotherSortsSocksInHell · 05/12/2025 17:23

Thanks for all the genuine suggestions so far. I'm not sure of the kids' circumstances eg in care or from families in hardship etc. I was also thinking along the line of good chocolate/sweets but unsure of what the "in" things are with teens at the moment.

It's difficult as I don't want to buy say Minecraft themed stuff in case the kid isn't into that so thinking more generic but still a nice gift.

ETA @Sherunswithwolves We are supposed to wrap the gifts before handing them in but with a post-it saying what's in it e.g. toiletries set and chocolate.

Lego is always a win imo. Top trumps (can play with mates if family won't). Snuggly socks, sweets or chocolate, something like a toblerone or more grown up and fancy than buttons etc.

JaninaDuszejko · 05/12/2025 17:33

We have one at work as well but the children are asked for an indication of what they want which helps. Most of the teenage boys seem to ask for toiletries which I always think is so sad, my teenage boy would never think to ask for that for Christmas because he always has enough. We're getting a band tshirt and haribo sweets for a 14 year old boy and makeup for a 16 year old girl. I have teenagers so get them involved in the purchasing.

YourMotherSortsSocksInHell · 05/12/2025 17:34

Would a spork or one of those credit card multi-tools be a good call? In addition to a Lynx gift set and a bar of Green & Black.

Interesting that a few posters have mentioned Haribo, which I would have thought are for much younger children.

Powerbank
Beanie hat
Greggs giftcard
Nike socks
Deck of cards/Uno Flip
Sports water bottle

Mine like Haribo Tangfastics and Twin Snakes.
They would not like Lego or Top Trumps

Needmorelego · 05/12/2025 18:16

@ImAVolunteer how do you know they wouldn't like "Lego or Top Trumps" but you do think they'd like cards or an Uno game.
What a strange assumption to make.
Edit : sorry were you referring to your own sons? I might have miss read 🙂
