Giving Tree Ideas for Teenage Boys

YourMotherSortsSocksInHell · 05/12/2025 15:05

We have a giving tree at work. I've noticed that most of the tags that have been taken are for younger kids or girls and it's mostly teenage boy tags that are left. I think this is sad, although maybe not surprising given some of the "gender disappointment" threads on here when a poster finds they're having a boy.

I don't currently have any teenage boys in my immediate circle so looking for some ideas apart from the ubiquitous Lynx gift set. Age ranges on the tags are 12-14 and 14-16. Price around £10-15.

Thanks

ETA. Only info on the tags is sex and age range.

My teen foster son says don't get Nike because of the trans advert for female sport. He says girls train just as hard as he does for his sports team and then Nike replaces them on advert with a boy dressed as a girl. He and a lot of his sporty friends have boycotted Nike because of this.

I won’t buy Nike for my DDs for this reason, but I do see a lot of teens, boys and girls in the brand. It’s nice to hear boys supporting girls in this way.

OP I think you will be fine with non branded, as you say socks for the most part are just socks.

A beano/ dandy, Lego, charcoal set with sketch pad, woolie hat, funko pop, joke book, selection box. It’s like anything op, someone said above their boy wouldn’t like lego, my 16yo lives for lego as do his friends!

What’s a giving tree?

Multipack of Nike socks
Some kind of smellies - mine graduated directly from Lynx to Jo Malone, but there is middle ground.

I hate Sports Direct in principle, but in practice they are good for teen boy presents.

Some workplaces have a tree covered with gift tags. It's a charity thing to buy gifts for most often children from underprivileged backgrounds who wouldn't otherwise get a gift. The idea is you take a tag and buy a Christmas gift for the person described on the tag, usually you get sex and age (for kids) and sometimes an indication of what they would like, take the wrapped gift to work and they distribute.

Mine now 18 still loves Nike black socks and he loves a body spray/aftershave
He also loves Badedas £2:99 home bargains 300ml) but I guess you'd need to know they have a bath

You can’t go wrong with Nike (white socks) black tick for most teenage boys IME. And haribo

How very lovely! 💛💛💛
Work from home here so never heard of that.

TK max have a lot of gadgety things and other gifts for boys/men.

Power banks are always handy?
Small Lego set (Star Wars, or technics)?
A warmie? Microwaveable thingy, I see they have some good ones for boys, including a spider one?
Stranger things merch?
A nice Stanley style mug? Or sports bottle?
Both my teens like American food/sweets and lots of teens seem to be into noodles/ramen?

You get them in supermarkets and big stores too. Some local radio stations will also do a drive for gifts.

White Nike socks
For the older age group body spray/shower gel type set (probably a sporty brand)
Some sort of game or “gross facts” type book with a bar of chocolate
Jelly beans
Saw a Pringles gift tube somewhere, that would be a hit

Ok, right or wrong, I've made the unilateral decision to go unbranded to get more for the money.

So far I've got

3 pack, black unbranded sports socks - £2.50
Haribo Tangfastics - £1.50
Multi - ended charging cable - £2
Lidl Cien bodywash and Deodorant spray - £2

I'm going to pop round to B&M and TK Maxx at lunchtime and pick up another 2-3 bits.

Thanks again everyone for all your imput.

Surely teens are the exact age range for lynx as preteens don't use bodyspray normally.

Edited

Have you been in a classroom of year 5/6 ish boys? They are the prime age to start using Lynx

Agree. It’s no different to preteen girls getting periods early, some boys also need to start wearing deodorant early. Even if it’s not necessarily needed it’s that copying the older boys thing too.

I think the big difference these days is when I was younger lynx was pretty much the only option for boys other than brute and old spice, these days there are far more options which is why not all of them like lynx or they grow out of it sooner and into more “premium” choices.

Sounds like you are now well on your way OP. Such a lovely thing to do.
