Charm bracelets for pre-teens, are they still fashionable?

Thinking of getting my 8 year old girl a charm bracelet for Christmas that she can collect charms for as she gets older.

Can anyone recommend a brand that is considered fashionable? Are the Pandora ones still in?

I had a silver one growing up and collected charms for it but they had to be added on by a jeweller and so they ended up sitting around for ages and getting lost before they were (sometimes) attached. Are there alternatives where the charms are each to attach?

thanks!

Pandora ones still very fashionable with year 11s round here. My year 9 has half asked for one then taken the request back a couple of times!

Pandora charms easy to put on yourself

Thank you! I’ve just had a look at Pandora bracelets and there are so many beautiful charms. Still ummming about it. 8 might be too young. Although might be a nice thing for grandparents to give her and tbh it would help curb the influx of toys into our house at birthdays / Christmas if my mum can get excited about buying a charm instead 😂

How about nomination charm bracelets?

I think 8 is a bit young for a Pandora bracelet. They are lovely. We got my eldest one for her 13th birthday. Her younger sister wants one but her wrists are too small plus, the value of the bracelet with charms is something to consider.

hmm. 13 as the first teen year is a lovely age to give something like this. Maybe I will save until then. She would probably be more appreciative of it then too.

My niece has one of these and loves it. She's had it a few years now. Not sure if it's classed as trendy but she is quite quirky and likes the charms more. If you buy two charms you get two free and a free bracelet.

@Gagamama2i would definitely consider waiting a couple of years. My DD is really good with hers she really looks after it & it is nice for us to be able to add a charm for Xmas/birthdays for her.

I was given a Pandora years ago. Friends and family proceeded to fill it. It's too heavy for me to wear as I'm very petite, but it was filled with memories. DD recently came home from university and I was surprised when she said how much she liked it, apparently they're having a resurgence.
I gave it to her as I figured she'd have it one day anyway and I'd never wear it.
Intrinsically they have very little value. IF you want an investment go gold and vintage. You can pick up Pandora bracelets full of charms for less than £100 in local jewellery auctions.

My mum gave my 10 year old one for her birthday- she loves it and is very careful with it.

Gagamama2 · 04/12/2025 11:21

Thank you for your replies everyone! I think I will wait a few years before giving it to her. But good to know they are still fashionable and the pre-teens / teens like them x

Yes Pandora and Nomination are still big with my children and their friends. My DD is 8 and points out older girls who have charm bracelets.

Ive ordered a gnoce one for my 9 year old. With the thought she can "upgrade" to pandora when she's a bit bigger. I got 4 for 3 on the charms and a free bracelet so much cheaper than Pandora.

Oh interesting. I was loooking at those. Do you know if the charms are interchangeable with Pandora bracelets, do they fit on the Pandora “string” diameter?

Apparently they do as a standard size (according to google), we haven't tried hers yet as its for christmas so I'm hoping it will for future.

I just couldn't stomach the cost of the pandora until I know she'll look after it
