Gift for an 18yo girl

Budget is about £50. She's DS's girlfriend and I don't know her that well. Have asked DS and he's been completely useless. Asked about any brands of make up or perfume she likes and he says "she doesn't like anything much but she doesn't not like anything"- very helpful 😭

So, gifts that most 18yo girls would like, I guess. I don't want to do a voucher.

My DS's gf is 20 but last year for Christmas I just went in Primark and got her stuff like fluffy socks, a fluffy dressing gown, some bath bombs, some flavoured lip glosses, stuff like that.

Nice candle, chocolate and voucher?

Can ds at least try and find out if she likes silver or gold jewellery?

Could he try and look at the makeup brands she uses if she brings stuff round to get ready with?

Assuming that ds follows her on social media, can he tell you what brands she’s liked? What kind of content does she post ? Eg if she likes Blank Street and matcha then some matcha making goodies could go down well.

I’ve got a daughter who is 17. How about some fluffy socks, a lush bath bomb, Lindt reindeer and a voucher for say Boots? My daughter would love that!

IndigoBabble · 28/11/2025 15:47

Just re read that and saw you didn’t want to do a voucher but I think some small token gifts and a voucher would be best received? Otherwise you may be wasting money on something she doesn’t actually like or need/want?

Can he sneak some photos of the jewellery she wears?

Otherwise I think some token gift like fluffy socks and a voucher are good. If she is a reader, book tokens, boots is normally good.

An 18-year old is a woman not a girl. I think at that age, I was given a pretty little vase. It was a token present and I was touched that his mother had thought of me.

I'd get something she can exchange if she doesn't like it, so something not food or beauty from M&S/JL/Boots.

Skincare more then make up at that age see if he can just get a pic of her skincare products 😅

I got my son’s girlfriend (who is also 18) a bottle of AU vodka. It comes in all different flavours and is popular with the younger crowd. We also don’t know her well so went for something that will be enjoyed but it’s not overly personal.

I have got Ds2’s gf a Katie Loxton personalised make up / cosmetic case. Got DD one a few years ago and they are nice.

Charlotte tilbury Christmas gift set (25% off today in Black Friday sale) and some PJ’s. The primark button down super soft ones are very popular at the moment.

My dd is 20, she would always suggest pj’s!
