Thread 12 - The one where it's All Pants (and socks)

1000 replies

RainbowZebraWarrior · 25/11/2025 20:27

Levi's pants and socks, that is. It's also exactly a month until Christmas!

Also, I have to thank @FortnumsWeddingBreakfastTeaPlease for this quote, as it really tickled me: "Well it's not going to be the one where we found the fucking flamingo.
Honestly I'm starting to despise the stupid, elusive, constipated thing." Sadly, it was too long to make the thread title.

Hello folks and welcome to the ongoing Christmas Bargain threads, which are hosted annually by the Amazing Reastie. I'm just caretaking for now.

This post is a work in progress, and if you have any links you’d like to share or you think would be good to add, then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas, and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links, please.

Please post any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of MN filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

As we move towards actual Black Friday (does that even exist any more?) the threads tend to move very quickly. It can be helpful to post your bargain in bold. This can be done by adding an asterxix either side of a word with no gap in between. So Levi's would be Levi's

Been a great purchase. Samsung kids mode brilliant.

Thank you, I will take a look at that one 😊

Thank you for the Rituals tips.
Does anyone know how I can get a discount on pink palm puff items?

Happy birthday @hugsandpugs !

Btw: I hope everyone is signed up to birthday freebies such as at Costa and Greggs.

Rituals do a good birthday gift, (but you do have to buy something). I really enjoy scooping these up on my birthday!

Got mine yesterday! The staff member even told me what the cheapest things to buy were if I didn't want to spend too much to get the gift !

Slater22 order the reduction and return the original or don't collect original and they will refund it.

HouseWithASeaView · 26/11/2025 14:01

I answered my own question about Uggs! I went on their website straight after posting on here & realised they have 30% off lots of styles, including the one DD wanted. So she’s sorted

stepfordwifey · 26/11/2025 14:45

HouseWithASeaView · 26/11/2025 11:23

Does anyone have an Uggs discount code or know where they might be reduced? The teen DD is desperate for them!
Thanks for the Hollister code. I had missed. I had a basket ready set up as teen DS doesn’t stop growing!
I think it was @stepfordwifeywho said about giving Fahlo bracelets as table presents to grandchildren. You might want to look into setting them up in advance. That way, they can see where the animals are now and, if you do it a couple of days in advance, where they have been. It also allows you to check that they are all working. BUT check that you can swap the tracking to another device so they can then do it themselves at home. I can’t quite remember how it all worked

@HouseWithASeaViewthanks it was me. We’ll look at setting them up beforehand.

SlaterSleighs · 26/11/2025 14:48

30% cashback on Timberland from Quidco - it tracks. I’ve just saved £47 on a pair of classic 6” boots which are never discounted.

EDITED can’t get the bloody link to work but if you go on their home page it’s there

Quidco

slipperypenguin · 26/11/2025 14:49

What’s the deal with the discounts for fahlo?

slipperypenguin · 26/11/2025 14:52

Never mind I just found the 20% discount code !

Streetcornerchoir · 26/11/2025 14:58

Can anyone recommend one of those toy claw machines? DD wants one ‘exactly’ like the arcade but they don’t look very convincing! Ideally one that fits small toys too!

Fuckingfuckssake · 26/11/2025 15:03

@lifelongfrugaleerI’ve bought for my DD from
M&S, some of the womens have options for the length, I bought her the feather knit separates.

Thanks to however mentioned The Ordinary sale (for me, not pressies ;)

Can i ask probably a dumb question? I've never had a credit card. (Or at least I think I may have decades ago but can't remember). I'm tempted to do as someone posted earlier and apply for the Amazon one which promises a £40 gift voucher if you get accepted, which I'd use for the Switch 2. Is there any down side to this? TBH I'll never ever use it so I am not worried about the APR which I'm sure is terrible, and it says there are no fees - so it's more general, like is it a bad idea to apply for a card generally?

There is a big benefit to having a credit card and that’s a kind of insurance that you get if you pay, or even part pay, on a card.
One example would be buying something online, you place the order and pay, unfortunately before your item is dispatched the company goes bust. Because you’ve paid using a credit card your money will be refunded to you. This would also apply if you paid a deposit for something like a new sofa or a car, even if you don’t pay the full amount on the credit card (needs to be over £100).

We had an issue with an electrical item, paid about £150 on a credit card, and within a couple of months it stopped working but the retailer refused to exchange or refund. I kept all the email correspondence and sent it to my credit card company and they gave me a full refund.

So there is that advantage, and as long as you don’t run up a big debt that you can’t afford then it’s generally a good idea to have a credit card.

Yes you can zoom in. It's like Google Earth but not as high resolution but you can still get close enough to see roads, buildings, etc.

That’s fab. Thanks

Help please bargain hunters!

I need to get joggers do my Dad, HOWEVER due to his legs swelling, they need to be non cuffed and looser around the ankles. Does anyone know where I could get some (preferably bargainous)?

also, not Xmas, but I have a last minute 21st birthday present to get (female) - any ideas? I could just get a toiletries gift set, but would like to get something a bit nicer/ more unusual if possible!

nothingtoseehereatall · 26/11/2025 15:51

@FuelledByRageAndHaribo Thank you so much for advice - and others too
I did actually try and apply... and got rejected!! Slightly surprised as (outside of mortgage) I have no debts, and AFAIK a good credit score (I used Monzo to check recently and it was very healthy). ChatGPT reckons it could simply be that I don't have much record of credit repayment (because of not having credit cards) or that I have no connection/account/history with Barclays who operate it.
Annoyed only because of not getting the £40 voucher!!

I'm not keen on everything they have to offer on their website - but the tights are the best I've tried. No more Nora Batty moments

Pintail candles were recommended by someone a few threads ago and I've since purchased a few of them. They have a random Christmas box worth £40 for £20 on until 1st December. You don't know what size of candles you'll get but it will be from their Christmas range. I've sniffed all the Christmas range and can definitely say they are good!

Apologies if this has been shared before (only joined halfway through the last thread), but I ordered the ghost pair of these slippers for my sister who has based her entire house decor on ghosts (don't ask!)

I'm hugely impressed by the quality and they have a large range of designs - including some Taylor Swift themed pairs for any fans
