Thread 12 - The one where it's All Pants (and socks)

1000 replies

RainbowZebraWarrior · 25/11/2025 20:27

Levi's pants and socks, that is. It's also exactly a month until Christmas!

Also, I have to thank @FortnumsWeddingBreakfastTeaPlease for this quote, as it really tickled me: "Well it's not going to be the one where we found the fucking flamingo.
Honestly I'm starting to despise the stupid, elusive, constipated thing." Sadly, it was too long to make the thread title.

Hello folks and welcome to the ongoing Christmas Bargain threads, which are hosted annually by the Amazing Reastie. I'm just caretaking for now.

This post is a work in progress, and if you have any links you’d like to share or you think would be good to add, then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas, and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links, please.

Please post any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of MN filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

As we move towards actual Black Friday (does that even exist any more?) the threads tend to move very quickly. It can be helpful to post your bargain in bold. This can be done by adding an asterxix either side of a word with no gap in between. So Levi's would be Levi's

Has anyone seen any deals on gift cards at all? I know Tesco have 20% off but their selection is minimal and only includes miller and carter, all bar one and harvester.

ThirtysomethingMummy · 27/11/2025 20:02

Aaargh I’ve missed an entire thread!
I went to home bargains today and they had some sol de janeiro dupes in gift sets and a huge range of Xmas socks :)

For anyone interested, here’s how the baked bean advent calendar has turned out 😆Decided against the pain of carving 24 doors out so have just numbered the tins and made a single door instead! Reckon it was about £8.50 all in

Next year you could get an Ikea Lustigt shelf, cut it so it's a tree shape and put the tins on there?

Oh wow, that’s cool. Next year, you could take all the labels off and have a bean roulette with own brands and cheapest of the cheap mixed in with the big brands and posh ones. See if he (I’ve assumed it’s a he) can tell the difference. Adds a bit of jeopardy.

ILoveCatsAndKittens · 27/11/2025 20:09

Uber eats have £15 off a £25 spend on the grocery section. Ive just tried it and to be honest was disappointed as the prices are hiked up anyway then delivery fee and uber fee bump it up so 4 tubs of chocolates worked out pretty much same price as in the supermarkets.
But thought id post as may come in handy for some.

Not sure if this has been mentioned already but the entertainer are doing buy 2 get 1 free on all toys. Might be useful to someone

https://www.thetoyshop.com/

Also - I spotted on my Amex card earlier an offer for £10 off a £40 spend at The Entertainer, so if you have an Amex card it’s worth checking the offers section, and if you have the offer - make sure you activate it before spending!

Ladybaga · 27/11/2025 20:14

Has the Hi Smile offer ended now? Thank you!

You could make him up a travel hamper?
some toiletries as they seem to be more expensive over there. Include suntan lotion!

plug converters/USA usb plugs
packing cubes
if he’s backpacking/staying in hostels then a padlock for lockers/long padlock thing to keep his bag safe on long train journeys.
yeti water bottle
$$$
backpack/suitcase/orher travel bag
power bank/solar power bank
AirTags for luggage (so he knows they are on the same plane and if not can track them!)
waterproof pouch for phone (if likely to be doing water sports)

just trying to think what I got my dc for their American adventures!

This is actually genius! Thank you and I’ll be taking inspiration and getting in on the sales tomorrow

MamaClausToTheRescue · 27/11/2025 20:21

40% off Cutter & Squidge gift vouchers until midnight. This is a great deal - I got a few of these last year and have been really pleased with everything I’ve ordered.

I assume you can buy them at 40% off today and probably use it on whatever offers they have tomorrow.

I’ve had my eye on their chocolate tiffin wreath as an early December treat for (me) the family and this is the push I needed to go for it 🤣.

my referral code is on the other board and it gets you £10 off a £30 spend but I don’t know if that will work with a purchase of a gift voucher. Worth a shot though because if it works, you’re potentially buying a £50 voucher for £20 after the 40% off and referral discount.

(I don’t expect this to actually work but please someone let me know if it does and I could be tempted to refer my husband 😇)

Ughy · 27/11/2025 20:24

@Addictedtobeauty omg there is still time for this….! 😂

Solmum1964 · 27/11/2025 20:25

Mahabis slippers were mentioned up thread. DS had said he wanted a new pair (the previous ones have lasted 5 years up and down the cellar steps on a regular basis).
The colour and style he wanted were OOS in his size but I've been keeping an eye on the website and a load more have just been reduced.
Annoyingly the 10% new customer discount didn't work on sale items, and had to pay postage and a parcel protection fee, but they've come in just under the £100 main present budget.
Apart from a Christmas Ale gift tube each for their stockings, DSs are now done!

PenguinTattoo · 27/11/2025 20:32

TeenWhisperer · 27/11/2025 17:07

Thanks for all the earbuds recommendations. Ds is very keen on having a true reference sound (I think it's an audiophile thing). I'm swithering between just buying one of these £20 pairs for him to test run (see if he likes using them) or trying to find him one he'll like. Bose Quiet Comfort seemed to be great, but there's evidence of issues switching between devices and that doesn't sound great.

Beats in ear pods are £30 on Argos today? I have a pair and love them, but I mostly listen to podcasts. Cheap but a good "known" brand?

WimbyAce · 27/11/2025 20:45

Are there any good wine deals out there? Thinking of something like that for parents.

I cant get it to take the 40% off despite the banner at the top of the page

I have a request for recommendations please. DB has asked for a book or books on mythology - for adults rather than kids, but for interest rather than academic.

Ideally Celtic, Egyptian or Aztec!

Ah, this I can help with as I have a mythology mad teen. These are beautiful and excellent. I've only linked to one, but it's part of a set of seven depending on which mythology they are interested in. amzn.eu/d/9IrtEs8
If you are seeking fiction, then Natalie Haynes is the go to and has a number of novels based on various greek goddesses. She is an academic but also used to be a stand up comedian and does an amazing radio 4 show about mostly greek mythology. She also wrote this https://amzn.eu/d/2b72tCn for a more humourous but historically accurate read.
If you check her insta she has recently posted mythology based gift ideas.

@MamaClausToTheRescue I tried! Unfortunately it's not valid 😭🤣 was worth a try though! Points also can't be used to take it down further but it's fair enough... Just debating buying a second gift card using your referral code... Though I really shouldn't... I really can't afford to buy just for the bargain sake... But it's a pretty decent bargain... Decisions, decisions 😬😁 (thanks for flagging the gift card bargain in the first place though!)

My 11yo has asked for a grabber machine. Any recommendations. I think this has been asked before and someone mentioned Lidl but I can’t see anything online. Apologies for repeating a question. I sort of don’t want to buy her one because I think it will be fun for about an hour then get stuffed in a cupboard.

I think ours is from Smyths. Is pretty good and both girls had fun with it.

Yes if you head over to the referrals board you’ll find referral links for various companies which give a great discount on a first order and bring prices down considerably. There’s lots of links so pick one at random and share the love!

I really don’t need any of this too, but a) I deserve a treat now and b) it’s quite handy for ordering a treat or birthday gift in miserable months post Christmas!

this way you can order a box of brownies for about £12 rather than £20 which is a nice pick me up.

this is me justifying why I will be ordering several vouchers….

I’ve had some from wine warehouse (I’ll see if I have a referral code as I did sign up, if I do I’ll pop it on the referral thread) - no subscription or anything like that. Virgin wines have a good deal with BLC. Also if you join the UK Treasure hunters group they share good Amazon deals on wine- I’ve just had 6x McGuigan Shiraz bottles for £26 delivered.
