Thread 12 - The one where it's All Pants (and socks)

1000 replies

RainbowZebraWarrior · 25/11/2025 20:27

Levi's pants and socks, that is. It's also exactly a month until Christmas!

Also, I have to thank @FortnumsWeddingBreakfastTeaPlease for this quote, as it really tickled me: "Well it's not going to be the one where we found the fucking flamingo.
Honestly I'm starting to despise the stupid, elusive, constipated thing." Sadly, it was too long to make the thread title.

Hello folks and welcome to the ongoing Christmas Bargain threads, which are hosted annually by the Amazing Reastie. I'm just caretaking for now.

This post is a work in progress, and if you have any links you’d like to share or you think would be good to add, then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas, and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links, please.

Please post any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of MN filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

As we move towards actual Black Friday (does that even exist any more?) the threads tend to move very quickly. It can be helpful to post your bargain in bold. This can be done by adding an asterxix either side of a word with no gap in between. So Levi's would be Levi's

@welcometotheblackparadee
computer games
mouse mat
toiletries
amazon voucher
driving lessons
any equipment for hobbies
speakers
netflix/amazon music subscription
dressing gown
hair products
reuseable bottle
rucksack
gym equipment/bag/towel
gaming chair
heated blanket or under blanket
Small umbrella (they never wear a coat!)

bizzey · 27/11/2025 14:56

@welcometotheblackparadee ..mine at that use to appreciate a toiletries hamper .

They were never going to go into Boots and buy facial moisturizer with SPF but strangely enough...it got used very willingly !!

They still ask for one now if I ask for ideas for presents !

Gives them chance to try new things /products that we know they should use ! 🤣

What are people getting for the 18 year old males in their lives? One of my brothers turns 18 at the beginning of December and neither myself or parents can think of what to get him.

There's nothing he "needs", doesn't drink, isn't interested in experiences, has all the tech etc.. Any and all ideas gratefully received, especially if bargainous.

Jewellery? Chain, bracelet, ring? Garmin watch if he’s sporty?

I second this. My 18 year old likes face washes, moisturiser with spf, deodorants etc but he doesn't go to shops so wouldn't pick them up himself. So I make him up a hamper at Christmas and birthday if different products. He definitely appreciates them and tries them all out.

These are awesome! I wish I had someone to buy them for.

fishfingersandchipsagain · 27/11/2025 16:04

Thanks @HalfasleepChrisintheMorning and @mumonthehill he’s read Mythos and didn’t like it - plus from what I remember I think it was Greek.

@sillygoof the DK one might work, but I think he’s looking for something more in depth.

YelenaBelova · 27/11/2025 16:13

Thanks for the Uno! I got it at £4.67 too.

doistayordoigo · 27/11/2025 16:22

DH would like some ear pods, I don't use them as I find them really painful, any recommendations?

Yeknom · 27/11/2025 16:24

A long shot, and I’ll keep checking myself but if anyone sees a Black Friday deal on Picturehouse cinema membership can you let me know :) thanks!

TeenWhisperer · 27/11/2025 16:29

@doistayordoigo I am also looking for ear pods and am so confused! Ds is an audiophile and keeps talking about reference sound. He's never had wireless ear phones and I'd like him to try some for convenience. But don't want to spend a fortune as he may not get on with them. Would also appreciate advice. All his tech is Apple (laptop, phone etc) but I am not sure they will be what he's after, but don't want to spend more than that.

These might be too cheap for what you’re after as I’m no expert 😅 but we got these last year based on these threads and we’re both still really happy with them! Our phones are Apple and they work fine with them.

@LoveHearts69 We're android not Apple, I assume they'll still work? I know nothing technology wise!

I have a request for recommendations please. DB has asked for a book or books on mythology - for adults rather than kids, but for interest rather than academic.

Ideally Celtic, Egyptian or Aztec!

Could this appeal @fishfingersandchipsagain?

or hardback £12.99

MerylSqueak · 27/11/2025 16:42

Arregaithel · 27/11/2025 14:00

In-ear buds Beats (ivory) £29.00

Thank you for this. Stone cold bargain. Good spot.

@doistayordoigo and @TeenWhisperer would these suit you?

Fuckingfuckssake · 27/11/2025 16:44

The Argos Beats earbuds linked to this afternoon are a very good buy price wise, never used them so couldn’t comment.

May I recommend The High Deeds of Finn MacCool by Rosemary Sutcliffe which is flipping amazing (Celtic) and Myths of the Norsemen by Roger Lancelyn Green. They are paperback books and I used to love them. In fact I am going to order both again now!

They are for children but are very readable as an adult - not picture books.

I have the Scottish version of this and it's lovely!

welcometotheblackparadee · 27/11/2025 17:02

@AndSoFinally why do they never wear a coat?!

Thanks for all the suggestions; unfortunately a lot of them are things he already has but I like the idea of a really nice toiletry hamper of bits he'd never buy himself.

Also thinking of some stuff he could take to America when he travels next summer but coming up empty.

Thanks everyone though!
