Alternatives to Ralph Lauren

Hi, my daughter has asked for a few Ralph Lauren bits but as she is only 13 I really don't want to buy the price(!). Is Abercrombie and Finch a good alternative?!

Fernleigh22 · 24/11/2025 20:09

Or an outlet village if you have one near you?

Ariel896 · 24/11/2025 20:13

I’m sure it’s an unpopular opinion but you can get Ralph Lauren fakes from temu

MellowPinkDeer · 24/11/2025 20:30

Don’t buy a fake. Is it a cable knit she’s after? They used to be good value at outlet but they really aren’t now!! Try Tommy Hilfiger or Hollister ?

SSRI · 24/11/2025 20:42

Oh my teen wants Ralph Lauren too! Think Abercrombie and Fitch good for their age.

Comefromaway · 24/11/2025 20:46

If she wants Ralph Lauren then I’d get RL if at all possible. However set a budget & maybe get her 1 item whereas she could have 2-3 Tommy Hilfiger items.

I buy from Vinted, the outlet store, Flannels or their outlet website.

Fernleigh22 · 24/11/2025 20:46

The outlet is a 3 hour round trip so I don't really want to get there and not get a bargain! She would like a cable knit and a hoodie.

I always think Tommy Hilfiger is for more mature women?! I want it to still be trendy even if I don't get RL

If you can’t or don’t want to buy what she’s asked for, then I’d ask her for what she wants in its place or buy something else from her list or give her money to go shopping herself rather than deciding for yourself. I’ll probably be called spoiled and ungrateful but it’s disappointing to get something close to what you want, but not quite right.

Where is the outlet page? Do you have a link?!

Tk maxx regularly have Ralph Lauren items in. I've bought several cable knit jumpers from there, they sell for between £30 to £60 usually.

Yes I do completely agree with where you are coming from with that

I don’t know about girls but all my son’s friends wear Tommy Hilfiger (aged 18-21).

I have both brands. My Tommy Hilfiger hoody is gorgeous, so soft & cosy. However I’ve got cable knits in both and Ralph Lauren is better.

ChimpanzeeThatMonkeyNews · 24/11/2025 20:55

TK Maxx often has some nice Ralph Lauren bits and bobs.

Yes, nothing says ‘I love you’ like buying a fake 🙄

I think you need to find out what she wants quite specifically, so that you can still get something she likes that’s within budget

Zanzara · 24/11/2025 21:18

Give her some money towards it. Let her learn from her own experience and let her choose what she wants.

MaudlinGazebo · 24/11/2025 21:37

RL is very in at the moment and it’s the RL she wants, not something that looks similar. Either get the RL or pivot and get something totally different.

ltscoldonthesidelines · 24/11/2025 21:48

Crew is a great alternative.

suki1964 · 24/11/2025 21:49

Seriously RL isnt worth the money now

DH has been wearing it the past 30 years and even he is questioning the quality and price

Even the TK ones are very questionable now

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 24/11/2025 21:50

YY if she wants RL then getting her something else is a bit of a let down.
My DD had a couple of TH tops ( I remember a cable knit jumper from there ) it was really nice .'And she got a TH purse in House of Fraser sale .

I'd put TH as a younger brand .

Wildflowers78 · 24/11/2025 21:54

Yes, it’s expensive but it’s meant to be a special Christmas gift. DD got the famous RL flag jumper (£250..) for her 16th birthday and is now still wearing it aged 21 - it has lasted her 5 winters, still looks good as new and still trendy. The cost per wear must be minuscule at this point and you’ll spend much more having to replace fake ones that wear out quickly/go out of trend. Get her the proper jumper OP.

This. Do not buy a substitute. I went to the Bicester store and got both the RL cable knit child size (child size L or XL would fit a teen) which is much cheaper than the adult XS/S and a hoodie in clearance - all for under £100.

LifeBeginsToday · 24/11/2025 22:11

I've bought 15yo DD a Ralph Lauren water bottle with a bear on from John Lewis for £45. Yes it's expensive but it's the cheaper end of what's available and she'll love it.
