There as so many now, noticed them on Netflix, channel 5 etc but are any of these actually good? I fancy something new compared to the same old classics.

The Holdovers

Itsasecretnow · 23/11/2025 17:56

Maybe 3 or 4 years ago, but Last Christmas is quite good.

CharlotteCChapel · 23/11/2025 18:04

I enjoyed sugarplum and the Claus family

AngelofIslington · 23/11/2025 18:11

I love Last Christmas and have been known to happily watch it June

yorkshiretoffee · 23/11/2025 18:13

The Holdovers - now on Netflix

noblegiraffe · 23/11/2025 20:04

Klaus from 2019 is wonderful. For kids and adults!

user1471538275 · 23/11/2025 20:07

Another vote for Klaus and I also like Arthur Christmas

Lancrelady80 · 23/11/2025 20:11

We have The Knight Before Christmas as a guilty pleasure. 🎄

Nonameagain31 · 23/11/2025 20:13

What age?

I personally like Christmas chronicles (particularly the second one), bad moms, and liked Red one that came out last year. And elf.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 23/11/2025 20:13

I liked “Your Christmas or Mine” about 3 yrs ago, and the sequel YCOM 2, 2 years ago.

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 23/11/2025 20:16

Violent Night is hilarious. Had us all in stitches. Although does depend whether you are looking for warm and fuzzy or fucking funny. People die violently.bit somehow manages not to have too much gore.

claracluck1978 · 23/11/2025 20:16

There’s a low budget Scottish movie called ‘Lost at Christmas’ - it was on BBC1 for a couple of years and so was on I-player. This year I think it’s on a streaming channel rather than mainstream. It’s no ‘Wonderful Life’ but for a low budget Brit flick it’s ok.

ledmeup · 23/11/2025 20:58

Any age & genre!

The Holdovers.

Thisisnotmyid · 23/11/2025 21:00

That Christmas on Netflix is great. Total kids one but it’s by Richard Curtis and great

ledmeup · 23/11/2025 21:00

I’ve seen Violent Night - enjoyed it. Last Christmas, Bad moms, Christmas chronicles also liked. I had to turn Red one off i’m afraid.

Don't think I’ve seen Klaus & the Holdovers is on my list. thanks for all the suggestions, I will check them out.

Not a new one but we watched Four Christmases the other day which is really funny

CourageCamille · 23/11/2025 21:02

Silent Night 2021 - nice country house, obnoxious posh people and a gut punch

SuperPug · 23/11/2025 21:05

The Holdovers is one of my favourite films of the last few years but I also find it unbearably sad.
I do love Office Party (SNL type humour) but won’t appeal to everyone
I do love a rubbish Netflix one, they’re pretty harmless and enjoyable in their own way

therewasafishinthepercolator · 23/11/2025 21:24

Love hard

Krampus (although not recent)

A series, not movie Lily & Dash

Quite like Home for Christmas too. Dubbed but watchable. 3rd season coming soon. Netflix.

Silverbirchleaf · 23/11/2025 21:27

Saw this on Facebook.

I like the Christmas Prince series.

Not new but I love The Family Stone.

Silverbirchleaf · 23/11/2025 21:29

Watched Champagne Problems today. It is set around Christmas, and there is snow, but not really a Christmassy film, as such. However, easy watching, feel good, romantic film.
