Any suggestions for an advent calendar for a 3 year old who doesn't like chocolate? Thanks!

Book advent calendar maybe? There’s a few that have a different Christmassy book every day.
We do our own and have a small something in every day - e.g, finger puppet, bath toy, small book. I buy in bulk and from Vinted so it doesn’t end up too pricey

The playdoh one is fairly reasonable

What’s wrong with a picture of a bell or a candle etc, as in days of yore?

Haribo if wanting it treat like

Playmobil 123 advent calendar went down a treat in our house

I make an advent calendar each year using a 24 piece jigsaw of a photo of each kid.

It’s cheap to do and has become a nice tradition

We did a Brio advent calendar at about that age and a Playmobil one with animals. I remember buying my niece a Hey Duggy book one too.

That was the type I had when DS was little, I didn't start buying the Lego ones until much later, and at that point the picture ones became mine, all mine. They were the kind I grew up with and therefore the best

PS @ElizabethVonArnim Did you ever read The Caravanners, utter classic

We had one of these! We got a fabric calendar with pockets you filled yourself and I put their favourite snacks in each night (as the pockets are open it’s best to just do it nightly for the next day). They now like chocolate and are a massive teen who towers over me but apparently “the elves” have to still visit each night to add treats as it’s tradition.

I have just bought a Disney Princess storybook with 24 little books, very nicely presented

We're having this one.

Depending on budget - Playmobil, Peppa Pig, Bluey, Thomas the Tank Engine, Haribo, a plain one with pictures…..,

ElizabethVonArnim · 23/11/2025 18:04

@ShodAndShadySenatorsno, but now I will! Thank you.

I love the books ones. We’ve had Maisie, peppa, a Disney one, a Bluey one and a mr men one. It’s been a lovely tradition, most of the books from our very first peppa one four years ago are still around, the only issue is it was a bit more challenging finding one for the 7 year old this year.

@wishIwasonholiday10 I love having an excuse to gush about John and his little painted houses. We have 24 of them, and we put one out to play with each day of December. They are so perfect for our young kids and they play with them alongside our little nativity scene and build a Christmas village.
