Looking for a classic Christmas book for DD(8). I got her Holly and Ivy last year and she really liked that. Can't seem to think of any other old school ones. Any ideas?

Have you got The Night Before Christmas in a lovely edition? Might well be too young, but if she already knows and likes it, a great edition is a tradition to enjoy.

If you want something more precisely age-appropriate, eight is the perfect age for The Children of Green Knowe - such a lovely book.

It may be a smidge young (although I’m 42 and I still love it) but maybe The Jolly Christmas Postman?

My favourite Christmas book is The Thirteen Days of Christmas by Jenny Overton. I read it as a child as reread it every year.

I love "I saw three ships" by Elizabeth Goudge even as an adult.
