Favours for work Christmas meal

Looking for some cute and fun ideas for some favours/small gifts for our work Christmas meal. Probably up to about £5 per person spend. Just a token thing. They’re a quite classy and difficult to please bunch who work in media so can’t be anything too tacky 😬 not necessarily food as a few have allergies, eg I’ve been looking at mini craft kits eg make your own Christmas decoration type of thing. Any other bright ideas that will surprise and delight on a budget?!

Do you really need favours? Nobody really wants them and they will just end up in the bin.

JinglingtoChristmas · 21/11/2025 17:34

Don’t bother. They will nust be left on the table.

zaragirl87 · 21/11/2025 17:35

Lottery ticket or scratch card

PatThePenguin · 21/11/2025 17:37

Is everyone else doing the same?

If not, just don't because you'll make yourself look a bit odd and some people will feel as though they should've bought you something in return.

Dozer · 21/11/2025 17:37

Oh Jesus, what a PITA for the organiser and how pointless!

Zempy · 21/11/2025 17:45

Don’t bother.

FionnulaTheCooler · 21/11/2025 17:48

Pair of Christmas socks. Hopefully that way they'll get used and not just binned. I wouldn't appreciate a craft kit to be honest, I can't be bothered with the faff.

Abracadabrador · 21/11/2025 17:48

Classy, difficult to please people aren't going to be delighted by £5, just stick a few Christmas crackers on the table.

SouthBeachDreams · 21/11/2025 18:14

It isn’t my idea - I’m organising it and my boss asked me to get some 😫

Make a donation to a homeless shelter.

stinky · 21/11/2025 18:27

A lottery scratch card

Allseeingallknowing · 21/11/2025 18:32

A Christmas bauble- not a kit
Expensive cracker
Notebook and pen
Nice key ring
Coasters
Candle

Violetparis · 21/11/2025 18:33

I'd buy a christmas decoration, little mini sparkly tree or something that you can get in sets which you can seperate, rather than a craft one to make.

Vermin · 21/11/2025 18:34

How media? Breath mints and a pack of tissues level media? Or a penguin classic (orange and white cover) from oxfam books on each place?

A bauble

Namechange822 · 21/11/2025 18:42

How about one or two posh chocolate each from a fancy brand, packaged individually in a fancy box? You could use a couple of brands if needed to fit allergies?

Or a company logo’d pen or umbrella or something?

I’ve also seen a lucky dip done well. Everyone gets something but some prizes are a 40p Christmas chocolate and some are a £10 gift. Everything wrapped and players pick from a box.

Saw these today whilst out!

I think socks or a bauble is the way to go. At least they are things people use, especially the socks.

I agree. You can't get anything good for the budget your boss gave you.

JinglingtoChristmas · 22/11/2025 08:58

Can you do a deal with a local coffee shop so they get one free drink?

If they are classy they will not want a DIY decoration kit. Don't give favours, they aren't children who love any old tat. Oh, just seen you've been instructed to do it. Two or three posh chocolates next to each plate then.
