Presents for teen who likes jazz

My DS (16) is into jazz. He plays in a jazz band and loves all things.

He doesn’t need any musical kit, but I’m looking for other ideas such as books, accessories as sticking fillers.

Tickets to jazz concerts? Pack of gitânes?

A night at Ronnie Scott’s is amazing. It’s such a small and intimate venue. Book a table, get there a bit early and have a burger. It’s a very respectful crowd so no chatting during the music.

They are also opening a new venue in Peckham. Tickets look quite reasonable there, although less convenient than Soho for most people.

Seconding this recommendation if its geographically within reach. A jazz playing teen should have a great evening.

I got my DD (13, also into Jazz) some vintage Jazz music books and a range of Jazz CDs to play in the car. She's managed to find some new favourites by playing them on the way to school. I also get her a new bauble every year and this year I've gone for a saxophone bauble from M&S (£5)

Also hopping on to say a trip to Ronnie Scotts !

We are very lucky to have some jazz bands from Ronnie Scot’s come to our local concert hall. We went recently, and have another one booked.

I've bought this t shirt for family member (similar age) who is into jazz. Its even nicer in RL 😀Bought small which is available still and it looks plenty big enough. Its £15 in the sale at Joe Browns but I saw you could get other sizes on ebay for £18.

Some vinyl and a record player if he doesn't already have one

Was coming on to say this! It will be an unforgettable experience.

I would go for this too. Jazz vinyl is massive. And a voucher for Rough Trade or something.

I've got no bright ideas, but I've just come to say that a jazz playing teenager is almost infinitely cool! I only wish I had his talent. I wish him every success and happiness.

ThePartyArtist · 20/11/2025 17:06

There's a fun card game called Jazz.

Peachypips78 · 20/11/2025 17:09

My 15 yr old is exactly the same. We saw the band Jazz in Paris last weekend and they were amazing. He plays the trombone. I have got him some old records as we have a record player and he LOVES it.
