Meta Quest what do I need to buy?

I’m looking at getting my son a Meta Quest for Christmas. I’m so confused with the different types 2/3/3s etc. Could a helpful soul with knowledge of these things help a clueless mum out please?

I bought my son the Meta 3s for his birthday this year. You dont need anything extra, everything required comes in the box. You could get a Meta voucher for games, or for example, if you know he'll be playing Roblox you could get some Robux as an added extra.

My sons got the meta 3 for christmas, we just got a £50 meta voucher so he can buy some games. (Worlds are free though!) you will obviously need a phone or tablet to it to connect too.

3s just runs a bit better & slightly better graphics. there isnt a massive difference.

I really wouldn't get a 3s. The 3 has better lenses, the 3s has the same lenses as the 2 and you can absolutely tell the difference. (I have both) and if you can stretch to it get the 512 GB so he's not constantly having to make room. You can't add more memory later

Proper cloth for wiping lenses essential, not just a teeshirt. Soft inserts to protect lenses if it's being taken out of the house. Absolutely needs to be kept away from the sun and the head strap it comes with is crap, a comfort strap with a battery or 2 will weight it on the head better. You only get about 2 how rs battery life on the unit itself.

And don't hook it up to Facebook on setup.

You don't now but you'll have to really pay attention on set up. It seems to be the default.

The problem with that is if you happen to lose your Facebook for some reason, you lose the meta account as well. I don't know how off the top of my head but there is an option now to keep it separate.

And try and avoid the gift cards to put credits on. It goes wrong often, took me months of faff to redeem mine. Paypal is better.

Definitely drum in, no using any other material to clean the lenses other than it's special cloth they're coated in this anti glare stuff and they will scratch

Definitely look at the softer more padded head strap.
DH loves his metaquest, uses it every night, it's been a big hit in our house.
