Last year I gave my grandson, almost 13, a stadium tour at his favourite football team, as well as his Dad, he seemed to enjoy it. It's a really difficult age for boys!

FurForksSake · 16/11/2025 21:24

In terms of hot chocolate maker, one from Amazon that has a 4 or 5 in one function. I’ve not chosen yet, but it won’t be the velvitiser as it’s so expensive.

Brightmoments · 16/11/2025 21:48

My 12 year old is not into sport, fashion or much of anything else except gaming. He has asked for a hover board though with a go kart attachment
. Other stuff includes an official Oodie (he likes how soft and thick they are) and HP Lego set. Then it will just be stocking filler type things so chocolate, sweets, a book (probably something like diary of a wimpy kid), phone case, power bank, fidgets and a family game (such as exploding kittens).

Last year battleship was a massive hit! Moving forward I will probably try to get vouchers for experience days or events as part of main gift.

FurForksSake · 16/11/2025 21:50

A couple of years ago young driver vouchers went down well.

I have a 13 year old. So far he’s getting Adidas trainers and a Nike hoody, a set of CK miniatures and a microwave toastie maker. He enjoys factual books so probably Ripleys believe it or not.

@SharpLemonSharkcould you tell me where you got the CK minatures please? Have been looking for similar for my DS

Cleanthatup · 16/11/2025 22:27

FurForksSake · 16/11/2025 17:26

Meta quest 3
hot chocolate maker
comic book about ramen
north face hoodie and T-shirt

plus a stocking.

he’s asked for board games from the grandparents (exploding kittens)

Can I ask what the comic book about ramen is? My son would love that

Warhammer. Big Lego set. Music player that is NOT a phone (because we won’t get him a smart phone).

Would be interested to know what music player you've gone for, please? Looking for a simple old-fashioned (hah) MP3 player for my 12-yr old.

Plinketyplonks · 16/11/2025 22:31

11 year old so a bit younger, no phone yet

beanbag for room
switch game
under armour base layers for football training in winter
Posca pens (more colours)
A family board game called Beat That
stocking

FurForksSake · 16/11/2025 22:32

Oh and look at Big Potato Games, they’ve got some great ones that this age enjoy. We have a really good game called The Chameleon which was a very well received gift.

ResusciAnnie · 16/11/2025 22:44

That Nike Dunk Lego is awesome!

DelurkingAJ · 16/11/2025 22:53

Cricket pads
cricket gloves
IOU for cricket spikes (if bought now they’re bound to be too small come late spring)
books, mainly popular history
weighted blanket
Switch game (DH is in charge there, I have not a clue)

His stocking is a nightmare as he eats neither sweets nor chocolate (I question sometimes how he’s mine based on this) but will include Beano annual, Xmas socks, sleep spray and whatever bright ideas I have very soon (he was unimpressed by the suggestion that he might like cologne or body spray). So thank you for the thread, OP!

FurForksSake · 16/11/2025 23:06

For stockings mine has got lots of random stuff and then lots of Japanese / Asian food items. And 12 Bombay bad boy pot noodles.

I highly recommend the driving experience at Mercedes Benz world in Surrey. We did the one when you do half an hour on the road & half an hour off road. It’s really good. The off road bit is more interesting but DS really enjoyed the on road bit too.
I worked out that if you go on a particular Sunday each month, the track team do a display at lunchtime. It only lasts 5-10
mins but was fun to watch. Plus, if you go on a Grand Prix weekend, they show the race (plus the qualifying the previous day etc)
We parked about 12:30, watched the display at 1pm, went & had lunch in the surprisingly nice & not badly priced restaurant, got down to the conference room for about 1:50, watched the race until about 2:30, wondered around the displays/museum and had a go on the Scalextric (less than £5pp I seem to think) and in the simulator (about £10pp maybe) and then went for a coffee before doing the driving thing at about 4pm
