Homemade Christmas cracker kit

Hello! I’d like to get a kit to make my own crackers this year, so that I can put a little personalised gift in each one. There’s quite a bit of choice on Amazon etc for kits but I’m not sure if the size will be generous enough to actually fit something in alongside a hat and a joke and maybe a chocolate (I’m thinking little gin miniatures or a mini hand cream etc). I’m just a little concerned about the girth. Snigger.

If anyone can recommend and link a set they’ve used I’d be super grateful.

Thank you

Hi! I've been doing my own crackers for a few years now. The kits you see on Amazon are generally too small for the gifts you suggest, very fiddly to make and tear easily.

Last year I bought a ready made set of six large fill your own crackers for £15 but the designs although jolly, were not very Chrismassy in my opinion. However, I'm sure you'd fit the suggested gifts in them. I dressed them up with some Christmas stickers.

This year I have just bought some large prefilled Tom Smith crackers from Boundary outlet. They were half price at £12 and I'll just open one end and add my gifts! So maybe look round for similar?

The Works and Hobbycraft do the best kits.

Wrap the gin in a bit of tissue paper in case it flies out of the cracker and breaks!

Dunelm have DIY cracker kits. Not sure if they're big enough for a gin miniature though. I usually put a Lindt chocolate teddy bear and a scratch card in each of ours.

I've bought the Shelter packs of fill your own crackers before which have been a good size (and also nice that the money goes to help those in need at xmas).

Something I've done before is bought cheap ready made crackers and just untied the ends to take the filling out and refill them myself. At least that way you can see the size before you buy.
