I've done a master plan of meal planning, shopping list for food for Christmas eve day and boxing day. Present list and Christmas card list.

I opened my Cookery Year book (yes, OK, very 1970s but DOES have everything you want it need recipe wise) in order to stick it in for future reference.

I found a timeline of Christmas Day my late father had written including when to put turkey in, time to open presents etc.

My father must have written it in the 70s-80s. He died when I was 11 but I guess my pedantry comes from him. I don't have many memories of him but this was lovely.

aw that is really v sweet.
I still remember my father getting up at the crack of dawn to put the turkey in the oven.People seemed to roast massive turkeys for many hours in those days. Great memories!

That’s so lovely 🥰

Gorgeous.
Photograph it, get it enhanced/ tidied it up if necessary and printed. Put it in a nice photo frame and stand it up in the lead up to Christmas? X

I’m due to give birth any day, and this has set me off, how beautiful. I hope you are able to possibly follow it on the day, along with him x

This is really sweet.

My dad died last year and I was only thinking yesterday how I will miss never again having a Christmas where he is making a massive turkey, with undoubtedly something crazy happening like in a comedy sketch.

I've also found a few handwritten things around my house in the last year and they are like treasure.

Make sure you have a high res photo of it saved.

Lovely find.

Oh yes, like the year the dining table leg was wobbly so just as we came to set the table for Christmas lunch, Dad decided it was the perfect time to turn it upside down and fix it. Great times. 😁What happened in your house?

@Lovecatssowonderfullyprettyoh how lovely to gain another memory of your dad and one that can give you help or inspiration 🫂 I’m really pleased for you, my parents have that book and still refer to it , we always loved looking at it, I’m getting a mental image of a fresh mackerel with other fish then a variety of grains on another page….there’s something satisfying about that book, a good memory for me too 🥹

I lost both my parents in the last few years and this made me both smile and cry a little. (Sums up my life at the moment).

I ADORE this book! I remember mother making food for dinner parties in it and looking longingly at the cakes/ sweet section.

Thank you so much everyone for your kind words, it meant a lot and I don't have many memories of him. A tiny thread of why I might be like him, which I'll never really know.
