Anyone started watching these? Any recommendations?

They’re my guilty pleasure every year 🫣

I watched “Mistletoe in Montana” last night, starring Melissa Joan Hart. It was ridiculous and fabulous.

I’ve started watching already Blush

Piemam · 17/11/2025 09:50

@VillageFete that one I watched twice! I was about a third in when I realised I'd seen it before. There are recommendations from 2024 if I can find the thread...

Christmas on Cherry Tree Lane is good as is Christmas in Evergreen

BogusBargins · 17/11/2025 13:53

No recommendations but just showing my hand of support as Id never admit liking them IRL! Might set some to record now you’ve mentioned it. Just make me feel warm inside

I do love them, but there’re really only two plots.

High flying career woman reluctantly returns to her home town to sort out Aunt Agnes’ estate and meets up with her high school sweetheart who is now running the local cake store. Will they fall in love before she has to return to her fiancé in the city? (Spoiler alert; yes, and she gives up her career to turn her aunt’s house into a B&B).

Or, handsome businessman visits the town over Christmas with the intention of opening up a chain book store which will wipe out the independent book store in town and force its owner to find a job elsewhere. Elderly lady forces the businessman to help build floats for the annual parade. Will he and book store owner fall in love before Christmas is over and he has to make a decision? (spoiler alert; yes, he stays in the town and somehow fixes it so that no other chains will ever try and open a shop there. And the parade is the best ever).

I love these. They're just so ridiculous but so cheesy and Christmassy I love watching them.

Christmas heaven to me is: Christmas tree lights all on and me doing my wrapping with one of these films on in the background.

One I watched last year was called The Text Before Christmas (I think? Something like that title anyway). The plot was that an old lady had texted the main woman accidentally and they'd got chatting. The old lady invites her over for Christmas. Of course she goes for Christmas and the old lady has a lovely family and very handsome Grandson...you can guess the rest.

If it was real, the old lady would be a scammer or murderer! Like, who would go to a random strange woman's house for Christmas dinner?!? Only in the hallmark Christmas movies would that ever end well 😂. Or maybe I'm just a cynic?

BogusBargins · 17/11/2025 14:42

Today’s offering - Match made in Mistletoe; Emily gets her dream gig decorating an embassy for the festive season, but the new ambassador has no time for holidays…until Emily shows him how magical Christmas can be.

I do love that I could be totally taking the piss with the above and none of us would ever know! Spoiler…I’m not, it’s on C5 at 315

Streatfeild · 19/11/2025 10:22

Maybe not cheesy enough but I enjoyed Happiest Season on Netflix. And realised halfway through that I had seen it before.

Streatfeild · 19/11/2025 10:22

And unusual as it’s two women who are in love.

kindasorta · 19/11/2025 10:39

Saw haul the holly on Netflix. Ridiculously cheesy I loved it 🥰

I had seen the embassy one last year maybe.

open to more suggestions 🎄🎄

Piemam · 19/11/2025 13:34

There's a Haul the Holly 2 on Netflix as well. Verrrrry obvious what's going to happen if you've seen number 1.

VillageFete · 20/11/2025 17:03

Merry Ex-mas on Netflix… starring Alicia Silverstone. A fabulous, festive cheesy watch.

@kindasorta Aah, Lacey Chabert stars in that. The Queen of Christmas cheese.

I started it. But found it slow and boring and not very christmassy. Maybe need to give it a try again.

HorrorFan81 · 20/11/2025 17:40

I have done both Haul up the Holly's, Hot Frosty, Christmas Under the Northern Lights ans started Renovation Romance. Hot Frosty easily the best 🤣

Devilsmommy · 20/11/2025 17:42

My dad is Scrooge. Terrible and excellent 😂

OnToast81 · 20/11/2025 17:45

Mrs Miracle, I’m watching it now.

Picoloangel · 20/11/2025 17:49

Love these cheesy films and now I read seasonal
Autumn and Xmas cheesy novels. This is so far removed from my very serious work life but maybe that’s why I love them so much! 🎄🎅🏻
