I normally make Mary Berry’s Christmas cake which uses a 9 inch deep/23 cm round tin. However, I’m now struck with the urge to make small cakes as gifts and have got some 9cm springform tins. Was frankly just going to try and divide up the mixture between four tins and bung it in on the same low heat gas mark 1. The big cake takes 4 to 4 and a half hours, so I thought maybe an hour cooking time? I’ve had a Google but just wondered if anyone has done this particular cake in little tins? Oh, and if anyone has a recipe for mini Yule logs that would be brilliant! Thank you!

I’ve just made Nancy Birtwhistle’s Christmas cake which always comes out well for me. Free recipe online. It can either be made as one large ish cake or three mini cakes, using small baked bean tins, washed, labels and tops and bottoms removed. She says that because the cake mixture is so dense it doesn’t leak from the bottom. I’ve never tried it but the cake itself is delicious and doesn’t need feeding either. May be an option?

Thank you @freakydeaky. I shall have a look at this recipe too. Much appreciated!

The BBC has a Mary Berry Christmas cake calculator, and I believe I used it to make a variety of sizes last year…

@MidnightPatrol I got unbelievably excited by this Grin but unfortunately it only starts at 15cm. However, I will definitely use this in the future for other cakes, so thank you very much!

I did something very similar using Mary Barry's Christmas cake recipe but using 200g baked bean tins. I asked chat gpt to do the calculation for me and they only took about an hour to cook as they are so much smaller!

@Rose785i was planning on doing lots of little cakes this year with the baked bean tins and was wondering how on earth to work out quantities and cooking times. Thank you for suggesting Chat GPT. I use it for a lot of things but it hadn’t occurred to me on this occasion.

Definitely use chat gpt for this

Sorry for the delay in replying, but I did use ChatGPT and have made the cakes. They came out brilliantly. Thank you @Rose785 and @slipperypenguin for this tip and thank you to everyone else for taking the time to reply. Merry Christmas!
