Book recommendations for dds age 14 and 12

I cannot have Christmas without gifting books! Does anyone have any good recommendations?

Both dds are good readers but their interest in reading has wained as tiktok takes up more of their time and attention. I'd love to find a book or two that might grab their attention.

Any suggestions?

Enola Holmes, Ruby Redfort, Geek Girl and Girl Online have been popular with my dd.

My DD loves Holly Jackson books, especially A good girl’s guide to murder series.

If they like fantasy style books then:

Skandar series (AF Steadman)
Shadowhunter series (Cassandra Clare)
Keeper of the Lost Cities series (Shannon Messenger)
Divergent series (Veronica Roth)
Summoner series (Taran Matharu)

following for inspiration for books for my girls

A good girls guide to murder trilogy. My 14 and 12 year olds loved them. Also there is murder most unladylike mystery series which is great, not too nasty, think Mallory towers/sherlock holmes but sassy

i didn’t mind the divergent series but my daughter thought the main character was a bit boy obsessed, which is true.

the hunger games books are fab, much less about the romance than the films

one of mine loved the twilight series, one hated it

Wonder, if they haven't read it already!

Diana wynne Jones is good for fantasy for girls and boys.
She wrote Howls moving castle.
The book is different to the studio ghibli movie but it's so lovely.

My dd14 loved Stephen King because all the “stupid books about girls discovering someone was murdered at school are too lame and badly written.”

Also “To Kill A Mockingbird”,Jane Eyre and Ursula Le Guin’s “Earthsea” series.

You don’t have to stick with modern YA novels.

Alone is also a great one off read but short

Dd 13 loves the lottie brooks books. She’s also loved the laila mackay book she got … I ordered for her stocking and DP didn’t look whilst opening amazon parcel and gave it straight to her thinking she’d ordered it 🤦‍♀️
she likes heart stoppers
dork diaries. Twisted tales
