What activities to do if your kids are too old for visiting Santa?

Hi all

my DCs are now 11 and 9. This is probably the first year I have not booked to see Father Christmas/Santa. I think they are too old. So what other activities do you do at Christmas to have fun and get in the festive spirit?

We go to a Christmas tree festival at a local church and then go to an old cafe that’s always beautifully decorated and get hot chocolates.

Gingerbread house making and decorating competition is the big one here. Different theme each year. This year we're going for 'ships' last year it was 'landmarks'. Christmas isn't Christmas without it!

Ice skating, light trail, pantomime

See what local activities are on, there are generally load from church services, lights switch on, fetes, carol concerts etc. Choose a christmas decoration. Buy a real tree. Pantomime, circus etc. Light trails. Christmas baking. Christmas films, music.
