Am just putting some lists of films and books together to put me in the Christmas mood and to enjoy through out December. So what are your favourites that I can add to my lists?

Maeve Binchy wrote a short story collection called ‘This year it will be different’

I’ve never read anything of hers but have read this the last 3 Chritmases

For absolute cheese factor, Christmas in the Smokies is my fave film after The Muppets.

Anne Fine's The More The Merrier and Barbara Robinson's The Best Christmas Pageant Ever are regular Christmas re-reads aloud for our family. See also Horrid Henry's Christmas, the chapter where he's cast as the Innkeeper, goes blank then says "yes, there's plenty of room at the inn."
We love a book to make us laugh.

Dark Is Rising and Georgette Heyer's A Christmas Party (locked room murder mystery) for just me.

Klaus and Arthur Christmas as our animated favourites, plus the original cartoon (from Bugs Bunny animator Chuck Jones) of How The Grinch Stole Christmas - 25 minutes long, narrated and sung by Boris Karloff and just perfect.

Favourite Christmas novel that I re-read every year is Trisha Ashley's The Twelve Days of Christmas.

Last year I saw a lovely film. It is actually based on an American children's book written in the 1970s called The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. I read the book when I was a teenager and thought it hilarious and when DD was a child I found a copy to read to her. Then last year I read that it had been made in to a film. DD, now adult, "found" it (don't ask, I don't know what platform it's on or how she does it). Anyway, if you can get hold of it it's lovely, funny and heart warming. Very festive.

Edited to say I just noticed the poster above me mentions the book Best Christmas Pageant Ever, and it is indeed a good read aloud book. But still worth watching the film if you can find it.
