Anyone else's neighbours got the Christmas decorations up?

I have terrible eyesight so thought I was imagining the snowman and stuff in the window this morning but seemingly not. I'm not a fan of Christmas anyway but how does anyone stand the clutter when there are eight weeks until Christmas day more or less? Expect that the one I see when walking the dog will be trimmed up later this week too.

Yup, my neighbours have a neighbour with their decorations up 🤣

Openmouthinsertfood · 01/11/2025 19:31

I've had mine up for weeks. I don't mind the ornaments, I just swap the regular ones out for my Christmas ones (I know it's not trendy to have any ornaments anyway.). I don't see it as clutter as none of it is in my way. It makes me happy.

Haha, late yesterday evening we drove past a house which had been decorated for Halloween for the previous fortnight. All that has gone - to be replaced by a holly wreath on the front door.

Our town has a Christmas pub, they always do their outside mural and grotto like interior before Halloween. I walked past it last week and the local press photographer was there 🤣

A few of my neighbours have lights up with Halloween decorations. These just got changed to Christmas ones. I don’t mind myself ( it’s fireworks I can’t bear, a few twinkly lights are not an issue), but it’s defo getting earlier each year.

Oh don’t be cranky! If it brings joy to people let them be! Last year l had them up from mid November as I had moved outside the UK and was missing it so I did it to cheer me up!

New folk moved in back in September. They've had their tree up since then
As long as it makes them happy I guess!

Notateacheranymore · 01/11/2025 21:18

Not my neighbour but my friend does.

Her husband is serving in the Falklands since 20th October until February. In my book, that means she can do as she pleases.

It is helpful that she lives on base housing, so there’s always someone doing something equally mad all year round, either just before a family member goes away or just after they return from a deployment.

No. But it’s on the posh side where we live. You don’t tend to get the ‘go early’ types here.

SkankingWombat · 01/11/2025 22:09

No, but I did walk into the living room tonight to find DD1 in Xmas PJs and jumper plus a Santa hat, sitting on the sofa watching an Xmas film. Apparently (according to 11yo wisdom), now Halloween is over, it's totally OK to launch into Xmas. I disagree!

MadisonMarieParksValetta · 01/11/2025 22:44

Yeah I noticed one of my neighbours had Christmas decs up when we were out for Halloween last night. No idea who lives in the house, never seen them. But they had tinsel everywhere and those 90s ceiling decs criss crossing their living room.

Each to their own eh. No skin off my nose at all.

My DD also appeared this evening decked out in Christmas PJs and saying that it’s now fair game for Christmas stuff…!

Ah good for them. The world is full of misery at the moment. Good for them for doing what brings them joy.

PerkyCyanPoet · 02/11/2025 17:04

I have cluster lights that I put around my front door and I’m sooo tempted to put them up, but I don’t want to be the first one on the street! 😂

I’m thinking next weekend or the following weekend should be ok though, that’s only like 6 weeks before Christmas??!

daffodilandtulip · 02/11/2025 17:07

My next door was decorated for Halloween from September and they took it all down to replace with Christmas before I went out at 10am yesterday.

LlamaNoDrama · 02/11/2025 17:30

I haven't seen any yet. There's a big house near us that decorates for all occasions but currently it's for remembrance.

stargirl1701 · 02/11/2025 18:22

I bloody well hope not. It’s not even Remembrance Day yet.

Brelim · 02/11/2025 18:25

No ours haven’t but I really wouldn’t care if they did. I don’t live with them! We put ours up a week or two before Christmas, but I like festive lights and if it brings them joy and doesn’t affect me (no laser lights shining into our house), good for them!!

andanotherproblem · 02/11/2025 18:56

I’m planning on going out next week to get some bits then plan on putting everything up shortly after. I went to the MacArthur glen outlet the other day and they have decorated already
