GIFT IDEAS - 20 year old male

So, my DD has a boyfriend who over the course of this last year has become part of our family. He is coming for Christmas this year for the first time and I would like to get him a gift from us. I have asked my DD what we should get him and was just met with a very unhelpful 'dunno' 🙄😂

Any ideas? Anyone that has a son the same kind of age, what are you buying for them? Budget would be no more than £50.

I only have DD's, no sons, so no idea what to buy a guy of this age!

Nice, thanks. What aftershaves are trendy with lads of that age nowadays?

DD has had a new boyfriend every Xmas for the past 3 years (she's 21) and I think a Zara / Arne gift card has been the most appreciated. Other things we've bought was a joint red letter day present (nice meal out in London). Nice idea but they broke up before they'd redeemed it. I think aftershave is tricky as it's so personal. I bought her first boyfriend a Molton Brown shower gel and, while he was most polite, I suspect that was not the thing to get for an 18 year old at the time.

If you’re not sure what he likes, then you can get gift boxes of mini scents for around the £50 mark. Like four mini bottles of Dolce and Gabana or John Paul Gaultier etc. I’ve seen them in JD Williams but they’ll probably be in the Perfume shop as well. Or if you can find a small size, Dior’s Fahrenheit is just the nicest thing I’ve ever sniffed.

Or an alcohol gift set? AU vodka is nice and you can get a good number of minis for that price. Or Dead Man’s Fingers rum?

Does he play golf? Vice golf is cheap as it’s quite a new brand but it has really good reviews.

Does he wear hats? Selfridges have a big selection of caps, beanies and flat caps for around the £35 upwards mark and you could make the rest up with Lindt chocolate or Haribo?

Maybe something like this for his wallet and some socks or sweets https://www.selfridges.com/GB/en/product/swiss-army-knife-swiss-card-classic_R04557158/

A Barbour wallet? https://www.selfridges.com/GB/en/product/barbour-padbury-leather-wallet_R04480021/#colour=DARK%20BROWN

Thanks for this. Some excellent idea's here.

Yes he plays golf, his family are very sporty but golf is something he plays in his spare time.

I will definitely take a look at some of your suggestions.

DH has just seen my golf recommendation and I’ve had a massive long lecture about hard balls v soft balls and matching brands and if you get the wrong ones, the sky will fall in and the end of the world will occur 🙄 so if you get any golf stuff you might want to get your DD to do some investigative work first. Essentially, golfers are fussy fuckers so might be better to avoid unless you get a £50 voucher from somewhere like American Golf.

Mine like Tom Ford and Sauvage, bit pricey. I sometimes get them Hugo Boss or Paco rabanne, to be honest I think they prefer the name to the smell lol

itsalwayssunnyhere · 01/11/2025 05:33

I wouldn't go for the aftershave as it might be very tricky. Go for something easier like a snack box. How about tickets to even they'd both attend? If there any upcoming gigs or shows, it'll be a perfect gift.

Ophy83 · 01/11/2025 09:06

I wouldn't get him a serious golf gift but you could get a golf ninja tee holder and a pack of tees.

Reginaesalve · 01/11/2025 09:18

What's your budget?

I'm getting this Lavazza coffee maker form Boots (£47.50)

The Traitors Official Board Game if he's into that

Something from Paul smith such as a wash bag, umbrella or scarf.

Laptop bag

Chocolate

Hoodie
