Stocking fillers for male teens and students?

JeminaTheGiantBear · 28/10/2025 20:45

Aargh I am out of ideas! Looking for stocking filler ideas for 15 year old, 18 year old & 20 year old males. (Also wondering if I still will be doing stockings when they’re in their 40s).

So far all I have come up with is some Artiscent dupes- I think I’m subconsciously trying to improve the smell of their rooms…

Lndnmummy · 28/10/2025 23:24

My 13 year old is really into skin and hair products so I give him something I know he'll use like body scrub, cocoa butter, or hair styling stuff. Maybe something gaming related. Always a book. I have got him some resilience/confidence books over the years and he loves them.

Some token things related to his sports like tiger balm, or a massage oil.

His favourite chocoloates/sweets

Scratch card

cinema tickets

I have sons with similar age gaps but 20 years on..........yes you'll still be doing them with the addition of any girls that come along 🤣 (although to be fair I'm finding girls things easier 🤷‍♀️)

Over the years........
Boxers, socks, PJs or lounge pants, chocolate, sweets, shortbread, gingerbread men giant and miniature ones from M & S, those tubs of twiglets, cheddars etc that come out at xmas, toiletries, hair gel, jumpers/sweatshirts, shoes, slippers, special cans of strong craft ale or soft drinks for the ones that don't drink. One of mine always had to have glass bottles of coke in his as doesn't drink alcohol, another likes weird teas, honey, board games, hats, scarves, gloves, popcorn, rubicks cube or other puzzles, notebooks, cocktail making accessories, miniature cocktails, port, whiskey, liquers, sloe gin, soap on a rope were a retro hit one year as they'd never seen them before. One has miniature Xmas puds/xmas cakes/tins of shortbread/special jars marmite as lives abroad and they go home with him.🎅 oh and not forgetting the chocolate coins and thorntons chocolate characters........yes they still want them😩

I just answered this (from my limited experience - don't have teen lads but work with them and my dd dated one) on another thread - will copy and paste - hang on.

tragichero · 29/10/2025 01:18

I don't have a son to buy for but I work with teen boys and some of the things I reckon the lads I work with would like, or need, include:
Stationary items - even the basics like pens etc - big pack of biros for example! Even if they don't want it, many of them are forever losing their pens and desperately need it.
Fidget toys! Many of the lads I work with absolutely love these! Popular ones are often the classics like stress balls, fidget cubes, fidget spinners. There are so many available now!
Spray deodorants - they love spraying the stuff around and coating themselves with it! Lynx seems enduringly popular.
Books. If they already like reading, get them more of what they like. If they don't, encourage them if you can! Loads of the lads I work with really like manga, currently. Popular series with the lads I know include Demon Slayer, Dragon Ball something or other, Tokyo Ghoul
Sweets, especially unusual stuff. I took some Japanese sweets in recently and these were devoured, especially some weird jelly tube things that looked repulsive to me.
Hair styling stuff, combs, even seen a few of the lads with pocket mirrors when they aren't allowed to use their phones to check their hair...
Don't rule out arty and crafty stuff - more lads than we think love drawing for example, so some decent pens or pencils. Even a little craft kit might go down well with some - I ran a craft activity recently and was surprised how many lads got stuck in and loved it.
Merchandise of their hobbies and interests (be that football team, bands, TV or game characters). My DD last Xmas got her then boyfriend a Five Nights at Freddie's plushy, and he was genuinely thrilled!
Vouchers! Again based on DD's ex, anything for food places like Greggs or Maccies - or fave shops, Primark for example, or in this one's case, Wat
erstones!

A Terry’s chocolate orange
Amusing toenail clippers
The weirdest drink you can find in a world food supermarket (in the past we’ve been able to find loads of different drinks including African Fanta which was totally different to UK Fanta and completely delighted DS!)

JeminaTheGiantBear · 29/10/2025 08:20

Oh my goodness these are such fantastic ideas! I have started making a paper list from it & am wondering if they need bigger stockings now!
I hope this thread helps other people like me who are struggling for ideas- am just amazed by how clever people are & how thoughtful & kind you all are to share all this! 💐

I have three boys; 23, 15 and 11.
I haven’t got many stocking fillers yet but it will be:
Small bottle of favourite spiced rum (eldest)
Nike socks
A Christmas themed bath bomb
Fancy shower gel for eldest two
Boxers
Hot Chocolate Bombs
New water bottles - Decent ones like Yeti
A book
Chocolate orange
Chocolate coins
Lots of other sweets and goodies
Satsuma (of course!)
New PJ’s

I’m not buying any plastic tat or things they don’t need this year - they rarely want or appreciate it.

Chiefangel · 29/10/2025 14:59

I get scratch cards, chocolate coins, mini puzzle, chocolate reindeer, Pringles, miniature of favourite drink, pants and socks with the dogs face on them.

RestitutionGranted · 29/10/2025 15:45

both mine at uni and cook a fair bit so lots of foodie stuff

fancy spice rubs in a pretty tin
mini panettone
fancy pasta sauce from Eataly in a novelty drinks bottle
Big Toblerone
shwarma spice bottle
books
onion goggles
bad people quiz
mind in the gutter quiz
top spoons (top trumps Wetherspoons)

ThumbTowers · 29/10/2025 16:37

Mine are largely food based too, mix of Christmas themed (chocolate santa, chocolate coins, chocolate sprouts etc) or more expensive stuff they like but don't often get (hotel chocolat packs, Candy Kittens etc). M&S usually do a big glass bottle of themed cake mix that they love and it fills some space e.g Colin Caterpillar chocolate Brownie mix.

I always stick a book or two in, often graphic novels or easy reads, as they don't particularly enjoy reading.

Also a new Lynx spray or two (they seem to bring out new scents every year).

A card game - just got Quick Stop, which looks good, on an Amazon lightening deal. Also Uno No Mercy. Quite handy to have something new to play in the down time between Christmas and New Year, plus we take card games away on holiday.

Other stuff I'm thinking of this year - highlighter pens,
novelty erasers,
toothbrush head covers for holidays, personalised Nutella (can get labels on Etsy) or Dairy Milk,
socks with a photo of our dog on them,
other novelty socks (eg pizza themed or favourite football team),
stress ball,
personalised phone case,
sports gloves
Toiletries bag for holidays (can't find a football team themed one though)
If stockings are big enough, was also thinking of a desk toy such as pin art or newton's cradle.

mumonthehill · 29/10/2025 16:44

All of the above! Cheese making kit was fun one year, fun spices, boss deodorant, posh pants, mini screwdriver set, anything for their sport, walking socks, stuff for camping, head torch was a surprise hit, chopsticks and ramen bowl, noodles, clarins cracker, mini alcohol or fun soft drinks, fun cereal, playing cards.

Yamamm · 29/10/2025 17:34

I always visit a Chinese supermarket such as Longdan and get weird drinks and Pocky and Japanese sweets. If it’s boys then basically any snacks!

BamberGirl · 29/10/2025 17:39

@RestitutionGrantedthanks for Top Spoons, that’s genius and will go down a treat!

UntamedShrew · 29/10/2025 17:44

I’ve got the Heinz personalised ketchup, a giant pickle (looks revolting), burger socks and burger sauce for my piglet son. His brother is getting some nice smellies and pants and hot honey. Both will get books and chocolate and some Japanese snacks.

I didn’t know there were f1 blind bags for Lego, one of them will never be too old so I’d love a link if you have found them somewhere…

mumonthehill · 29/10/2025 17:48

Top spoons has just been bought!! Genius.
