Please help! My ds is 12. He is football and gaming crazy. His birthday was in September so for that he got the new Fifa for his PS5, a new PS5 controller as his other was starting to not work properly, new football boots as his barely fit him anymore and the new home and away shirts for the football team he supports. There is absolutely nothing else that he wants (or needs) for Xmas but I can't not get him anything. Im honestly stuck. He already has a season ticket for football so I can't even get him tickets for matches. Hes not bothered about any new PS5 games. Please help me by sharing any ideas for your similar aged football and/or gaming mad children. Thank you 😊

Vbucks? New headset? LED lights? Gaming pc? Ps5 vouchers? Playstation + subscription?

OFHelp · 15/10/2025 20:19

He loves his ps5 so has no interest in a gaming PC plus he already has playstation plus subscription. He doesnt play fortnite anymore (thats not cool anymore at 12 apparently) so no v bucks needed either and he hates wearing a headset so no need for that either (which i don't mind as I can then hear all the chat if I want to so I know its appropriate for their age and only his friends he is chatting to). I realise reading this back how lucky he is to already have lots of very nice things but he honestly deserves it as he is such a lovely boy and he never asks for anything and genuinely appreciates everything he has. We work very hard to pay for these things for him too. But back to Xmas and I'm honestly lost as to what I can get him 🤔

Bit obvious, but clothes ? He must need clothes.

ranoutofquinoaandprosecco · 15/10/2025 20:43

Mine is the same age and it was his birthday last week, we got him a new bike!
I buy him weird snacks (may get him a snack fridge for his room), he wants some new trainers I’m sure he’ll say which ones, he’s just got in to mountain biking some probably some clothes for that, then random things like he loves ramen so a ramen bowl and spoon and also lobster so a set for cracking it open etc.

He’s also been hinting for years that he’d like some Dior Sauvage! May suggest the grandparents can get that.

fourelementary · 16/10/2025 00:19

Ds sounds similar though he is a PC not PS kid- he just got new football boots but would those be an option? Other football related gifts include a rebound net, training kit for fav team, boot buddy, boot electric dryers, table top football game.

soda stream?
mini fridge and snacks?
New tracksuit or and hoody top?
A calendar with a voucher for each month- JD sports, Amazon, cinema, Lego store, fav cafe for breakfast, etc.
New bedding?
oh and a fragrance!!

NuffSaidSam · 16/10/2025 00:25

They grow so much at this age that they constantly need new clothes and trainers so you can get him something to grow into even if he doesn't need it immediately.

Something for his room? Alarm clock, lamp, rug, posters.

You could get him a stadium tour of his team's ground? Lots of clubs do that. Or a signed poster/shirt/ball from his favourite player.

Sticking filler/small gifts:

Chocolate
Socks
Shower stuff
Unusual snacks
Book(s)

I have a gaming mad 14 year old. Last year we got him a Logitech steering wheel and pedals for his racing game. That went down well.

His sister recently bought him a gaming mug for a bday present that might be nice as a stocking filler.

He recently signed up to the council gym so I pay his monthly Everyone Active membership for that £20, they run supervised gym sessions for 11-13 year olds. I bought him a few PT sessions for his bday to build his confidence and knowledge.

Other than that he just wants PS funds, smellies and chocolate for Christmas this year. I might get him some new trainers as he needs them.

We got mine snowboarding lessons at the local indoor snow place last year and they were a huge hit. Mine is also football and gaming mad and had all the things he needed for that really. Maybe experience days- mine also liked driving a sports car. You can get ones where they fly a plane but they’re quite costly. Mystery football shirts are quite a good fun gift too

MaudlinGazebo · 16/10/2025 08:43

England/wherever you live international footy tickets
gaming chair
footy bedding/swimming towel
rebound training net
pop up goal he can take to park
cone/pole etc set for skills training
one of those footballs you attach to your waist for keepy uppy training
sub to match of the day magazine or fourfourtwo depending on reading level
Nike PL footballs and a rack to keep them on - this was a big hit last year here
tickets to see this is England play, it’s on tour next year
rack of hand weights for his bedroom

he will probably start getting more into clothes as the year goes on and will want some specific jogging bottoms/tbshirts/ coat but these things are hyper local so difficult to advise - but north face/nike/sports direct vouchers are a good bet

FlappicusSmith · 16/10/2025 09:37

Also, if he plays in a team, can you get him another pair of more 'special' boots he saves for matches? DS seems to have three pairs of boots for different occassions (one for playing in the park/ garden, one for training, one for matches 🙄)

OFHelp · 16/10/2025 13:27

Thank you everyone Im just catching up now. Lots of great ideas. The England match tickets would be fab so I'm definitely going to look into those! X

Oooh I didn’t know about the Guinness world record books for football and gaming! Great idea!!

PoodleMum23 · 16/10/2025 18:37

Gaming mad DS loves all things cosy so gamer style blankets, cushions, reading cushion for reading/watching telly in bed, oversized hoodies, led lights for round his room/monitor, gaming-in-progress sign for door, a skin for his PS5.

Also saw this on Smyths website, a football launcher: https://www.smythstoys.com/uk/en-gb/outdoor/sports-and-equipment/football/strikesphere-soccer-launcher-football-training-set/p/250056

mamaduckbone · 16/10/2025 18:47

You blew all the big ones for his birthday!
Trainers? Clothes? Mine were starting to get into looking cool by that age after starting secondary school .
Something for his room? A framed poster / picture? Bear brick?
Maybe an 'experience' eg drive a Ferrari, theme park trip.

monkeymamma · 17/10/2025 10:02

Vintage memorabilia for the team he supports
stadium tour
tracksuit/nike gear/nice trainers
books
football quiz game with buzzers
a new phone (??!!!)
cold hard cash
fidget toys
climbing/vr experience/vouchers for favourite restaurant so he can go with friends
Table football table

its a difficult age for presents!

BeaLola · 17/10/2025 10:52

I agree it's a difficult age for gifts - my DS had aftershave at that age from my brothers girlfriend and loved it

You sound like football is covered - is he into anything else eg Harry Potter - could do the tour ?

Other hits with DS at this age outdoor basketball hoop, darts board in garage, snowboarding at indoor centre

NJLX2021 · 17/10/2025 11:25

They are a bit pricey but what about an experience package at one of the away games that his team will play? Presumably his season ticket doesn't cover all of the away games. Most clubs/stadiums offer packages where you can get a more fancy experience, better seats, maybe meet ex players, get signed stuff etc.

Especially if his side are playing a big game/vs a big club that he wouldn't normally get to see..

OR, what about a subuteo set? My father used to have an old one from the 70s.. bit of fun for football fans. Not sure if they still make them though...

NoTouch · 17/10/2025 14:27

You blew all the big ones for his birthday!

^ this

Although I get it a bit with a September birthday it is prime Fifa and new shirts season. ds's birthday was February so we gave him some money at Christmas and Birthday and told him if he wanted the new shirts when they came out or the new Fifa to keep money aside otherwise he would need to wait until Christmas again.

Mobile phone
Tablet
Full new bedroom decor / gaming chair / desk for studying / frame signed shirt or ball on stand etc
Spotify/Netflix subscriptions
PT sessions with a PT who does teens
VIP stadium tour for him and friends
Money

MrsPerfect12 · 18/10/2025 11:10

What about a soda stream?

Ramona75 · 29/10/2025 13:02

As he has everything he needs, the money you have put aside form him, ask him; would you like to give it to a chartity of your choice or help somebody you know?
