What is your budget?

I mean a skiing holiday might fit a couple of sporty kids but it isn't cheap.

Ragruggers · 10/10/2025 12:17

I would look at experiences ie family ticket to a show or local attractions. Then these can be used over the months ahead. If they have no idea they must be happy with what they have.Dont put any pressure on them there is plenty of time.

Such a good idea but I myself wouldn’t be able to cope with that I’m so anxious when it comes to extreme sports 😩😩

What about an archery experience?

I've been fascinated by the jewellery and blacksmith experiences but they might be a bit young.

Tickets to sporting events?

Escape room experience?

Cross country skiing holiday, less of an extreme sport.

I have DD11 and DS10 into similar things and for DD I’m getting Uggs, hair curler, skincare & make up (Boots have some lovely unique Byoma & Bubble gifts on their 3 for 2), decent make up brushes.

For DS, I’m going all out with a VR headset and hope to god he likes it or it’ll be an expensive mistake. Other ideas were table top football table or hoverboard with go kart attachment. Various football team themed items (hot water bottle, PJs etc).

Also looking to this thread for inspiration 😩

Edited to add: loads of Fugglers (but my DC collect them; I appreciate they’re not to everyone’s taste).

Uggs might be an option but I’ll have to ask her, she’s funny so she might say no to them. Her hair is naturally curly but she has a straightener (my old one) that she doesn’t really use often. I will definitely give her a bit of skincare stuff but not too much as she has quite a bit to get through I suppose.

A VR headset is a no for now, I just think he’s too young. Hoverboard would have my anxiety through the roof 😅. He has a multi top games table - oh god they sound spoiled I know but they treat their stuff really well so things don’t break/get broken much.

I’d go with things to do if they have overwhelming amounts of stuff already.
I usually get mine theatre, sports match or concert tickets, vouchers for cinemas or attractions they like to visit for them plus a friend, maybe crafting things. If they are into sports things like a lesson surfing or skiing or a high ropes course voucher

We are in a seaside town and funnily enough neither of them took to surfing 😅

My DD was recently 13 and loves skincare/make-up etc. She really loves the Hollywood mirror she got for her birthday…a free-standing mirror with lights around the edge. It’s great and looks lovely in her room! She also got a Pandora charm bracelet which she loves and easily added to every Christmas and birthday!

Only thing I’ve got her for Christmas so far is Caroline Hiron’s’ new book on teen skincare which looks good. She’s also asked for ear piercing and earrings and a matcha making set.

Other ideas…perfume, Sol de Janeiro/ Victoria Secret body sprays, books, clothes vouchers, jewellery box, skincare storage, bath caddy, fluffy blanket/cushions/bedding for room, tickets to a show, waffle maker, chocolate fountain, ice cream maker, sweet hamper, art supplies, stuff related to hobbies?

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 10/10/2025 14:09

Do they have bikes?
Do you have an ice rink nearby? Ice skating/ice hockey taster sessions?

Oooh the Pandora might be a nice idea! thank you.
She has a mirror with lights in her bathroom.

I will get her some little bits for her room as it’s. New and still partially finished decor wise.

she wanted a ninja creamie initially but has now changed her mind…

My kids have everything. This year, they’re getting them a joint “big present” which is going to be a pull down projector screen and a good quality projector so they can all have “cinema nights”. I think I’ll get them a few bits to go with it like a popcorn machine and personalised snack tray/ bowls.

Tryingatleast · 11/10/2025 08:15

Are experiences and things to do really a Christmas present though? So Christmas morning/ day you say ‘oh we’ll go to x in the new year’ isn’t totally a Christmas present to me unless it’s something like a concert ticket- it’s you taking your children out. I always go with food, books, something comfy and something to do (Lego/ craft set/ dart board, rubex cube) and then eg cool funko pops or figurines unless they’ve asked for something. One of the kids this year has asked for a telescope or binoculars so trying to figure out a way of doing that affordably

Tryingatleast · 11/10/2025 08:16

Thedevilhasfinallycaughtupwithhim

love that!!

Ponoka7 · 11/10/2025 09:00

@Tryingatleast I suppose it depends on the child. My GC (9) wanted to do indoor sky diving, so that was my present. They have so much anyway and are too young to be excited by branded clothing etc. The day out might be a stretch for the parents.
@Statsquestion1 my soon-to-be 11 year, granddaughter wants a shopping day with her Mum and she wants to buy a Pandora bracelet then, so she will get cash, to do this.
She's a child who enjoys everyone being off work together.
