Getting together in London with family this xmas, and we’ve decided to push the boat out and have lunch out somewhere lovely.
Can anyone recommend anywhere? Budget not a consideration in this instance, but loveliness is!

The Ned

On Christmas Day?

The Ritz Restaurant

I was going with the Ned, also Roast in Borough Market

We’ve had Christmas lunch before at Cadogan gardens hotel, Chelsea which was lovely.

I like the Ned but it is located by bank so the area will be dead on Christmas Day.

You might be a bit late but Duck & Waffle

Vitriolinsanity · 08/10/2025 18:15

How about The Goring? An hotel might have more bustle on Christmas Day?

Scrollers · 08/10/2025 18:46

Go for a hotel, it will be much buzzier. Somewhere like One Aldwych or The Langham would be very festive

Leaning towards a hotel....

Claridges. I have friends that go every year. You did say budget wasn’t a consideration 😬

@LaurieFairyCakethats a lovely menu! It’s almost twice what the Langham charges though, so I wonder if it’s twice as good?!!!

It absolutely won’t be twice as good - but Claridges is Claridges so it commands a premium. The Connaught is one of my favourite winter hotels in London

I was going to day the same. I massively prefer the Connaught over Claridges for most experiences - a drink at the bar, afternoon tea etc - it's very classic and soothing and civilised. Claridges always feels a bit Made in Chelsea to me.

A relative of ours used to have Christmas lunch at The Wolseley on Piccadilly. Worth considering.

This is my Christmas aspiration once DD has left home and is doing her own thing.

I totally agree - Claridges has lost its sparkle for me
