Best ready made turkey gravy?

We never usually do turkey but DS wants it this year and it’s his turn to decide. I have ordered from marks and Spencer a turkey crown and a ham joint. Usually when I do a roast chicken at home, I use the bones and juices to make my own gravy but won’t have that with a crown. What’s the best ready made to use or even ready made and I can add to it to make it good?

I like the M& S turkey gravy that comes in the pouch, I think i may have improved it last year with a shot of port though!

Mind you, I haven't tried any other brands, but still way less faff than the Jamie Oliver gravy, delicious as it is.

If you did fancy making gravy this make
recipe is very good. (It uses chicken wings). You can make it in advance and freeze.

True Foods make the best ready made stocks and gravy.

I agree with the pouch of gravy from M&S. I normally add any juice that's come off the turkey crown as it cooks then heat it up in a pan.

I faffed about with the Jamie Oliver gravy one year and it didn’t come close to the M&S gravy in the pouch! Sticking with that again this year!

I am presuming the m & s gravy in the pouch is in the fridge section? How long does it keep? And does it freeze? Don't know ow when I can get to an m&s, so just planning ahead to see if might be able to get some a couple of weeks before!

Thanks. I may give the Jamie recipe a try but as soon as I see the M&S one I will pick them up for the freezer.

TBH I can never understand all this faff. If you’re having a whole turkey, simmer the giblets the day before, with sage and onion, to make a nice stock, and on the day just make gravy with it in the roasting tin, once you’ve taken the turkey out to rest.
Simple, minimal faff!

The M&S Christmas turkey gravy usually comes in a round tub not a pouch. It's very good. I always use it.

Fair enough. I was just sharing something with the OP which had worked for me in the past.

Thanks but we aren't having a whole turkey. Just a crown and I won't get what I need from the crown to make good gravy.

I picked some up today. It's not in the fridge section, it was on the end of the aisle near the other gravies and sauces. They also had chicken and beef gravy pouches.

Best before date in 2026.

That’s why I said ‘if’.
But people often seem to think there’s some huge mystique about making proper gravy in the roasting tin, so they don’t think of trying.
If we were having a crown, I’d go for M&S gravy, too.
