Thread 5 - the one where it's OCTOBER already!

Reastie · 02/10/2025 07:11

This post is a work in process and if you have any links you’d like to share or would be good to add then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7 and share around the joy/referral perks.

On a similar scented note - any recommendations for a man spray aftershave type thing for a 13 year old boy? He's had cheap and cheerful ones before so I'm just aiming for a slight step up - max budget about £25-30.

£32 but a great deal and nice.

Can anyone recommend a perfume for a 15 year old? Feel like I need to cash in on the Superdrug offer so don’t have time to go and sample them in store

and also other pps asking about perfume for tweens: if you prefer not to go the celeb route, Yardley have a properly lovely range of fresh perfumes in lovely bottles for around £8-12. I picked up a bottle of freesia & bergamot for £6 in the Boots summer sale for spritzing on days when I didn’t want to wear anything “proper” - very user friendly and not oversweet or overly musky.

Givealittlebit · 03/10/2025 23:13

Phew I think I’ve missed almost two whole threads - it’s so busy this year it’s hard to keep up! Thanks reastie 😊

Serenitesanta · 04/10/2025 00:41

I might start a separate thread on this but just in case anyone here could help I’ll post here first.
i have a child MAD into a PS game called Hollow Night Silksong.
I think he’d be over the moon with some merch or a hoodie or stuff related to this - anyone heard of it/similar kid/ideas please

Serenitesanta · 04/10/2025 00:45

ok 🫣 I googled silksong merch and there is a world of stuff - who knew!!!
Anyone play and know what would be loved most?

I say this with utter kindness - I promise. Yardley would not be well received by any teen I know.

@Serenitesanta

it may also be worth posting on the gaming thread (although it doesn't seem very busy)

Temu keeps giving me a spend £99 receive £90 back on PayPal. Don't even have to wait for it to be delivered or claim it daily as they just send it through as soon as the order is delivered!

I did one the other day.
Order came to £101.27
Used accumulated credit from 'price adjustments' of £4.65 and paid balance of £96.62 via PayPal.
As soon as order was shipped they sent me £90 on PayPal.
So far I have received £6.80 credits back in price adjustments and will continue to regularly check for more.
So...order has cost me minus 18p 🫣

That's the "wincredit" promotion. "Rewardsback" and "claimcredit" can be good promotions too. Just search those terms on Temu.

The discount cards and discount boxes can be good too.

You can also ask their customer service bot to remove your minimum order limit too which works for a while. Just ask it to "Remove the minimum order amount".

I also said this to them the other day and they gave me £12 credit for free.
"The vouchers are very misleading and false advertising. £5 off a £5 spend isn't true if I have to spend at least £15 to check out."

Those vouchers can be really useful though if you get them to remove the minimum order limit though.... usually only for a few weeks.

Ohmeohmyohme · 04/10/2025 07:14

What is the upper age limit for magnatiles please?

Whatthecluckingcluck · 04/10/2025 07:30

Bitzee’s are currently £18 on amazon
I think they will go quickly.

QuaintGreenFawn · 04/10/2025 07:52

Fragrances for teens - Hollister or Zara own brand ones are pretty good. Hollister usually quite sweet smelling.

Ooh thanks I tried the credit back and they gave it to me, I’m in the middle of doing claim credit on an order I would have done anyway for half of DD1s birthday decs/party bag fillers etc so will buy the other half with the credit, sometimes I can do it so I claim credit and then purchase with previous credit so going to try that too 🤣 will check out the other ones you mentioned though 💛

FallingIntoAutumn · 04/10/2025 08:10

Do remember when buying temu stuff it’s not safe for children or to be given as gifts. It doesn’t have the same safety standards and contains dangerous fabrics and metals etc.
no matter how cheap something is your kids safety isn’t worth it.

The Neom wellbeing pod bundle is reduced down to £80 again this weekend on Look Fantastic. I know a few people missed out on this on the previous thread when I posted it so hopefully they see this.
https://www.lookfantastic.com/p/neom-wellbeing-bundle/13997482/

Also if you’re a new customer you can use a referral link to sign up and get another £5 off I think. The referral credit used to be £10 but I think they’ve reduced it. Worth a try anyway if you’re thinking of buying it:

How does the super seconds work please? 😊 looks like some cool things on there!

Some stuffs gone live already but it starts properly at 10 today.
a group of small businesses have got together and created this weekends festival. it’s basically a seconds and sample sale (with reductions across their entire ranges) for small businesses. It’s a great way of finding interesting stuff with a few bargains chucked in.

Brightvoyager · 04/10/2025 08:17

Boots have save a third on Cerave if you buy three items (online only) and if you add ‘BEAUTY20’ you get a further 20% off. I got 3 pm moisturisers (full price £16.50) for £26.50. They’re about £11 on Amazon so a good saving. Also went through Cashback site.

Willow4987 · 04/10/2025 08:21

Anyone else having trouble getting on super seconds festival website?

Justhereforthechristmasthreads · 04/10/2025 08:27

Whistlefish have 2 free extra cards this weekend alongside their regular offer. You can get 17 of their Christmas cards for £10 (it does say they get added automatically so you might not get to choose your 2 free ones)

For anyone who has the O2 priority app. I looked under my priority today and have an offer for a free £5 gift card. Hundreds of retailers to choose from - Ikea, M&S, John Lewis, Boots, Amazon etc. Worth checking!

Avie29 · 04/10/2025 08:36

MaryGreenhill · 03/10/2025 19:15

Is this for real?
Only it sounds unbelievable.

Yea i just got £170 credits, im waiting for the next offer to use them 👍🏻 xx

JellyRains · 04/10/2025 08:39

I don't believe all of this Temu rubbish and think it's all cheap crap anyway.

Please can another thread be made for sharing all of the temu stuff?

What is the upper age limit for magnatiles please?

My nearly 10 year old still uses magnatiles weekly to build houses for her small world play.

OliverBabish · 04/10/2025 08:45

My friend has just said there’s 120 tiles on tiktok shop for £22 - will report back!

GRCP · 04/10/2025 08:46

Went to B&M IRL last weekend and got some lovely showery bits for tween DC - also happy with Ted Baker men’s fragrance which was £9.99 by the till - RRP £39.99

OliverBabish · 04/10/2025 08:47

Ah ok - they aren’t the official ones so not sure on the quality. I’ll get the Amazon ones
