This post is a work in process and if you have any links you’d like to share or would be good to add then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7 and share around the joy/referral perks.

Could i ask a Yoto question please?

Do you charge it and it can be used without a power source once charged?

Also - does the clock display all night when not on charge?

Thanks.

Yes charge it and it then use without being plugged in.
We have the mini so can't comment on the night light.

QuaintGreenFawn · 07/10/2025 09:51

I feel like someone asked about Lego friends advent calendars - on Amazon for £16.85 today

Arthien · 07/10/2025 10:02

Wellwhoknewthat · 07/10/2025 07:50

@Arthien don't know what it's like but this might do?

Thanks for the suggestion, that's definitely closer to what he'd like, but it needs to have a stand as he plays his guitar or keyboard while singing into the mic - he literally loves copying bands performing live, so the closer to the real thing I can get (without it being too expensive and breakable!), the better. Unless I could buy a separate stand and it might fit??

LostCats2 · 07/10/2025 10:04

@Arthien my daughter was given the pink one of these for her birthday. It's amazing. I couldn't find the black version for you, but it is heavy, has epic playback and is fetchingly loud enough that we don't like it and they love it.
So basically I recommend this brand of microphone wholeheartedly.

Amazon microphone

Any recommendations for a decent quality wildlife camera please? Thinking this might be good for a hard to buy for twitcher thanks

Jellybum2019 · 07/10/2025 10:24

Just checked and a game I purchased this morning for £7 something is now £17 with the prime deal ended already on that game so if you spot something at a price you are happy to pay then I wouldn’t risk delaying too long!

We keep ours on the charging base so the clock or night light (you turn it face down and then can set the light colour) is on all night.

I think the battery would probably last a night but I'm not sure if it would auto shut down after so long being not on or on charge.

Awe thank you. I hate having plugs on at night 😅

Has anyone tried the new Amazon fire 10 inch tablet? Debating ordering one for DD

Fuckingfuckssake · 07/10/2025 11:05

Thanks all for the railcard tips, we burnt through all our Clubcard Vouchers over the summer holidays, I’ll check Trainpal.

Has anyone tried the new Amazon fire 10 inch tablet? Debating ordering one for DD

I've just bought this as a lot of apps were no longer supported on my old one (including the one DS1 needs for his maths homework). What would you like to know? I make DS1 use it at the table and we use to watch TV and things when travelling, we don't really treat it as a handheld device.

If your DD is young my top tip is to buy the second hand kids case - £30 new and I got a "like new" one from Amazon for about £4.

Does it run pretty quick? I’ve had one of their smaller ones a few years ago myself and it run slow. Also is it android based in order to download games etc?

My DD is 8 so would just be used for the occasional games and YouTube

Polly Pocket set down to £11.99

https://amzn.eu/d/7rzilnF

Thanks for sharing, a lot of the Polly Pocket sets are in the prime day deal, have bought a couple for family members!

Does anyone know of a boys version to Polly Pocket? Thinking they would be ideal for my 4YO.

Thanks

Sainsbury’s had some more deals in today and they’re also doing 3 for 2 on their Christmas gifts.

Screwball scramble 3 is £22.99 in prime deals. Seems a good price for anyone else who bought 1 and 2 when they were cheap a couple of years ago?

Re Men's Fleece Lined Sweatshirts ordered about 10 days ago.
I have just spoken to Amazon Customer Services and been told this

We're just about to ship this order, and it's on track to be delivered by Wednesday, 15 Oct.

Sound good?

The fire tablets (at least the kids ones) aren't android, you cant download from the playstore or watch YouTube (even kids) on them unless your jail break it.

We've had the kids fire tablets 2/3 years ago and honestly don't rate them (except the case they come with, they're brilliant). Theyre slow and clunky and the lack of android makes them useless for us now. This year ds is getting an android tablet, I found one with amazing specs for gaming/streaming for him for £120.

I’m looking for a robot vacuum and mop. Does anyone have one they can recommend. There are so many to chose from!

WhisperingAngelisnotbad · 07/10/2025 12:43

I can't recommend a robot vacuum - but I did notice some on Amazon Prime Day best deals just now, in case that helps

It's technically Android, but all sort of in an Amazon layer so you can only go through their app store etc. I'd check there first that it has what you're looking for. Definitely not the flexibility of a standard android tablet though. Fast enough for our needs, but we're not pushing it by any means.
