Thread 5 - the one where it's OCTOBER already!

This post is a work in process and if you have any links you’d like to share or would be good to add then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7 and share around the joy/referral perks.

Some wireless headphones, £19.99 down from £129.99 apparently. They'll suit me for the gym and as a back up pair.

Dormouse1940 · 05/10/2025 16:54

I've just ordered a UK history map, and another of Folklore/superstitions for very awkward family members who already seem to have everything.

https://marvellousmaps.com/

There's a 20% code if you order 2 or more and free postage. Code applied automatically at checkout for me: DROPANDGIMME20

Thought it might help anyone else who's running out of ideas for hard-to-buy-for types!

Wow, these threads are moving very fast..

I want to get my daughter some sort of a styling tool if it’s not a hot hot one so much better. Dyson air wrap is really huge expensive. Is there anything similar anybody can recommend? My Facebook feed has been clogged up with ads for all sorts of devices which are apparently absolutely amazing and I’ve changed peoples lives but somehow I don’t believe them!!

Openmouthinsertfood · 05/10/2025 17:25

Thank you @Dormouse1940 Just bought my brother a history map. 😀

Ewock · 05/10/2025 17:42

Does anyone have a powerbank they advise? Thanks

THANK YOU! Just ordered a folklore one for a nightmare-to-buy-for friend - it should be right up her street.

I have the shark flexi hair dryer thing which is much cheaper and often on a deal

The Anker ones are good and usually go on lightening deals on Amazon for £10-15

This is maybe too vague of a question but what is a good brand for an adult craft kit? I am gauging by reviews that the likes of trimits and the works can be of a low quality. (For mother in law who paints but I am open to anything - needle felting, cross stitch, knitting etc so she can try something new)

I have someone who would like this too

hby9628 · 05/10/2025 18:04

@TimSamandLuluyes they are great. We grabbed some. They are the 24oz bottles so a good size. They were on the list for Xmas for the kids but they were with us so they seem to have got them early! Tbf DH and I got one each too. Can’t complain for that price.

I second Anker for powerbanks.

We have this one which did 3 adults through a 3 day festival.

Adult craft kits - I would look on etsy - there are some nice ones. Or arty stuff, Scrawlr box is good.

I do wonder about that initial price as if you click on some colours it says was £129.99 and others says was £19.99 but they look like the same product and spec in different colours.

GRCP · 05/10/2025 18:16

So pleased with my George discount - bought Xmas pjs x 4 and went to the website through Top Cashback for 3.8% cashback and paid with PayPal for 20% cashback! Got about a tenner off.

Londonmummy66 · 05/10/2025 18:21

I came across this website as part of the superseconds festival - they have a number of embroidery kits https://www.littlelightstitchery.co.uk/product-category/super-seconds-festival/
She had a rather nice kit with a map of the UK for you to embroider how you chose and an embroiderers gift set.

I did a quick whizz through but these threads are moving so fast, apologies if this has already been posted. The Spicery have 33% off and the kits have always been well received when I’ve gifted them in the past.
https://www.thespicery.com

Oh super thank you!

It's already a good discount, but I don't suppose there's anything extra out there for spicery? Money off first order discount code? Referral code?

Also, I'd like a curry kit to gift, but see there are a few curry options. Has anyone tried any/all in person and could recommend the one to get?
