Ive bought a few bits already, next goal is to get the flat sorted and get the decorations in

Same!

I mean, I cried at the GP this morning after a delightful A&E trip last night 😂 but the kids are with their dad this weekend and the plan is to deep clean the house top to bottom in preparation for planning what decorations are needed and when the start putting up.

A couple of DDs stocking fillers are arriving this week too. It's like the minute we're in the "ber" months, everything just feels so much happier and easier to deal with.

Happy nearly Christmas 😉

Oooh, glad it’s not just me counting down the days!

I announced at work it was only 99 days to go - not my best move!😄
I don’t care, I love the big countdown! 🎄

Openmouthinsertfood · 17/09/2025 17:06

I've got a 100 day countdown calendar. 😁I also recorded a load of QVC yesterday just to watch as they were doing Christmas shows. I've also found a channel on freeview shoowing Christmas films. Cheesy romantic ones, not usually my taste at all but as it's Christmassy, I'll watch it! 😂
I feel better as I have a few presents, so at least I've started. Sorted some of my Christmas decorations out a few weeks ago. Can't wait to get them up!
One of the presenters on QVC said one year she put her tree up in July! She had to do it for a promo but kept it up after. The earliest I've done it is September. 🌲
I've got one more chocolate orange cover to knit, it's in the shape of a hot chocolate. Everyone is getting one, along with some chocolate coins, a chocolate advent calendar, and a knitted snowman bauble for the 1st December.

I've started tuning into This Morning again for the Christmassy segments!!

I put my tree up in september a couple of years ago 😅

I am trying to wait at least until after Halloween this year

I watched Noelle on Disney+ the other day with dd, and ive had the christmas music on 🤭, completely get you

Ive never heard of a chocolate orange cover, that sounds lovely and like a great gift, alongside the essential chocolates ofc

Just so happy 🎄😄🥰

@mumofoneAloneandwellthank you! It’s one of those medical mystery recurring problems that is essentially ruining my life 😂 BUT the kids both got in my bed this evening and requested a movie night with That Christmas and honestly, I’m ready to put the tree up now 😂

We always have fairy lights up in certain places so it’s keeping the enthusiasm slightly at bay, but I definitely think you should put some teeny tiny lights up somewhere! It’s the best feeling having them doing their thing on an evening while you read or whatever

I managed to wait until November 1st last year to put the decorations up. I am in a new place, moved after 20 years at old place. I've been here a few months and was pondering yesterday where I will put the decorations. I know where the tree is going anyway. 😁
Yes I have inflicted my knitting on my relatives. lol They do all say they like their chocolate orange knitted covers though. I've tried to match them to their personalities. Like my older brother loves sci-fi so I've knitted him a Spock one.
I was playing chicken with myself but gave in yesterday...For as long as I remember I've had a Sainsbury's delivery pass for online shopping (Am housebound.). A one off payment that gives you free deliveries (Over £40.00), it also gives you early access to Christmas slots. I didn't renew my pass earlier in the year as I started to go to other supermarkets as Sainsbury's got quite dear. But I was looking in the CHristmas section yesterday about food to order, got panicked and bought a delivery pass! 😂At least I shpould get my Christmas slot.

Openmouthinsertfood · 18/09/2025 22:33

Sorry to hear about your A & E trip, welcometotheblackparadee. Hopefully things are ok now? (Just read your update. Sorry to hear it's ongoing.) Good movie choice by your kids though.

RavenIsOnHerWay 😂I sent all my relatives a picture of my 100 day countdown with the caption. 'And so it begins...' The reaction wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. 😂

Congratulations on your new place 🥰 - I say why not at least get some lights up?!!

And a few house decorations, like reindeer shaped ornaments or the like?

Have you booked an m&s slot? I got all excited but then thought, I wont need one as i am cooking for myself and dd - who will probably have french fries with her meat (as she is autistic, i am just grateful when she eats 😭)

Will try and get some tasty sides and desserts though - got my eye on this sicilian lemon one

Then I'll do my usual shop at Sainsbury's and Asda - no idea what meat to have this year though 🤔

Your knitting skills are epic, the number of scratches I got from sewing on dd's name labels onto her uniform 😅

Please feel free to share photos of the orange covers xxx

I live in the States where we have to get through Halloween and Thanksgiving yet (and strangely Oktoberfest in late Sept/early Oct seems to be a thing here too?!), but I too am so excited for Christmas! Can’t wait to put a tree up because I didn’t do this last year as I was drowning in life admin having just moved country!

It’s also my first Christmas with DP 🥳

Christmas 2025 is going to be so good 🤩

Did you move from the UK? It all sounds very The Holiday 🎄

Had to Google oktoberfest - i feel like all of those holidays make the run up to christmas more exciting

I love bonfire night here for the same reason

I’m really intrigued to see what a knitted Terry’s Chocolate Orange cover looks like! X
