I certainly don't want an unhinged crab for Christmas Grin

This post is a work in process and if you have any links you’d like to share or would be good to add then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7 and share around the joy/referral perks.

My DD wants two things both of which I know nothing about!

a white fox hoodie: I’ve looked them up and they are so expensive! Are they worth it?! Do they give out codes or anything?

skincare: shes ten and I never use anything on my skin as I’m allergic to so much so I don’t know where to start! What is good for this age?

I bought my DDs 11 & 13 White Fox track suites earlier in the year in a big sale they had, they have been the most worn clothes for months almost daily during school holidays, lots of washing and still in great condition. No way I could justify full retail but now I know the quality I may consider in future. My DDs weren’t bothered about the latest “edition” so the sale stuff was perfect. I also put 2 hoodies away for Christmas. Depending on your DDs size I went xxs for my 11 yo on smaller size for age and xs for 13yo also on smaller size.

Skincare start with Byoma and Bubble. You can buy a mini started kit for Byoma at boots or on Amazon. In the 3 for 2 minis section they also have the Byoma face washes and Bubble moisturiser. But you will definitely find plenty of options in boots for both brands. They are both good for young skin and popular in this age group.

My DDs like W7 makeup, they do skincare too but they haven’t tried the skincare, they have asked for W7 advent calander so I’m sure they will get some in that. They have had W7 calander a few times. My 13 also likes just plain old Nivea but it’s not as fashionable.

There are so many brands my DDs know them all and have a range of things they have spent their own money on, but other simple brands you could consider are e.l.f ( got a bit of controversy going on though) and inkey list.

Finally Laneige is a popular lip care brand, they do lovely lip masks that are very popular.

@keepincool - those notebooks and bags look nice.

I also got a couple of the metal bookmarks in my first order- they’re cute! Yours is better, though as it doesn’t seem to have the cut out shaped metal edges, which are a bit sharp on mine.

Thanks @keepincool - I will definitely be adding those to my basket if Haul do another deal.

On a related note: I used my Haul bargain yoga blocks today!

Fillybuster · 17/09/2025 23:38

Another one delighted with their Clarins haul - massive thanks to whichever pp alerted us all to the Sunday promo!

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 17/09/2025 23:50

Bit disappointed with M&S. My beauty box has a big cut down the front like it’s been Stanley knifed - good job it’s not a gift. And the school trousers I bought have come with no tags or packaging of any kind, just a couple of pairs chucked into the box 😕

Yalz · 18/09/2025 00:39

I got the £19 Lavazza milk frother from John Lewis a few years ago, too. JL don't seem to sell Lavazza any more, at least not online, but they do an own brand milk frother for £39.

Before that I had one of the type the OP may have been thinking of, like this for £10. It did froth the milk a bit but I haven't used it since I bought the Lavazza. There are similar ones on the JL website, including this one for £40. (!)

IlovePond · 18/09/2025 05:20

Yes - thanks to the PP who mentioned Clarins - my order has gone straight into my DOY advent calendar!

GameOfJones · 18/09/2025 07:30

I agree with Byoma for skincare. It is very on trend with the younger people I know. If she's only 10 though I'd encourage her not to overload her skin. Perhaps just the jelly cleanser and the moisturiser to start with.

For anyone who likes bees, these bee revival kits 🐝are the cutest little stocking fillers and amazing value, and from a small family business.

Having revived a bee a few weeks ago, it was the most amazing thing to watch it go from nearly dead to happily flying away.

I started off looking at the kits on Amazon that I think someone on here mentioned, but then stumbled on these.

If you buy any 2 things from their site you get 20% off, and it’s free shipping, so they were about £8 each delivered.

Each kit has 2 keyrings and a lovely quality glass refill bottle, along with a cute pompom bee. Each keyring contains a tiny glass vial with a cork stopper. You fill it up with bee sirup from the refill. It’s the same stuff that beekeepers use. You get to choose the colours of the keyrings.

It’s beautifully packaged and wrapped, and all of the paper is seed paper, so can be planted for bee friendly flowers 🌺

Photo with batteries for scale. I nearly didn’t buy because I thought the keyrings would be big, so was please to find that they are just a bit bigger than a AAA battery.

They have other kits too, but I thought these ones were particularly great value.

My daughter has this from All Saints and wants another similar cuff. Can anyone recommend something? There are lots of options online but you never know what they are actually like. Not allsaints price though!

Boho moon do a lot of alternative jewellery.

WhereIsThisGoing · 18/09/2025 10:29

My Amazon Haul was mixed, but the two things that weren't even vaguely as described we're refunded without any issue.

For your amusement, the set of "6 travel coffee cups" I bought, with a standard sized card for scale (in case the photo doesn't load, the cups are smaller than a shot glass!)

StrawberryGinger · 18/09/2025 10:56

Ohladear · 15/09/2025 13:18

Which brand of magnet tiles do people recommend? Magnatiles and connectix are very expensive. Desire deluxe are cheaper on Amazon at the moment but don’t want to get ones which will fall apart or break.

@Ohladear sorry I'm a bit late to the thread and PPs may have answered, I commented about these on the last thread.
We have a mixture of brands including MagnaTiles and the Amazon ones are actually better as they are stronger, shapes are more creative to work with and brighter in colour.
Can't remember the exact name of our Amazon ones but they weren't branded and we have 100s of magnetic tiles!

boatgirl81 · 18/09/2025 11:11

Can I ask, what is a popular perfume for a 13 nearly 14 year old girl?
I am rubbish with all things cosmetic but my teen is very into it all.
