Reastie · 14/09/2025 19:30

I certainly don't want an unhinged crab for Christmas Grin

This post is a work in process and if you have any links you’d like to share or would be good to add then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7 and share around the joy/referral perks.

Looking for help please for any past or present mums of girls who have read/collected Rainbow Magic Books, particularly the Early Reader series.

Looking for this book in the photo. Seems to be rare as out of stock in two shops I've managed to find in a search. There's another bigger book for older girls of the same name but need to find the Early Reader one.

Daughter is collecting the set and really wants it. I'm worried she is going to ask Santa for it as she is 7 and worried we dont have many years left for the magic. Also would be lovely to find it for her!

Tried Vinted, Ebay, FB marketplace. Any other book shops or second hand shops you can recommend?

Vinted's really good for books, worth a look.

we've been getting a lot of the Holly Webb books off there about puppies / kittens. Lovely reads.

Please let me know if anyone sees a Japanese or Korean snack box that doesn’t involve a subscription- thanks!

The supermarket someone mentioned above is a great suggestion. If not I’ve used blippo, which gives you a translation!

Just wondering if anyone had ordered from Typo on their cottonon website, have found several gifts that are perfect for people but the reviews on trust pilot are very mixed

I have a few times. Had to return some stuff as it didn’t make sense - like plant pot covers for inside with holes in the bottom so the water pisses out over stuff. most of it’s great though.
they also have physical shops so you can look at the stuff

There are a lot of Japanese and Asian supermarkets or pop up stores around here, you could buy a little hamper kit and just pick up some things over the next few months if you have any similar stores. I don’t know if it needs to be specifically Japanese but if not I bet some different flavour ramen, bubble tea, mochi and some Japanese well known branded items like Oreo’s or Kit Kats in different flavours or even just different wrappers would all go down well.

Luckily Labubus have passed us by so far 🤞 but there’s some kind of related Pop Mart Figurines on Amazon for £14 (think you get a random one from the list)

Would anyone have a uni days code they wouldn't mind sending me please? 🙏

Did you get one @BloodyBoilingInHere? Pm me if not with what you need

Here4the · 17/09/2025 12:02

@PumpkinSpicedTea if you search by ISBN there are a few coming up as in stock abroad but obviously much higher risk. Could be a good plan b.

Heated throw is showing as out of stock at Asda, I was too late!

BringMeTheBadgers · 17/09/2025 12:20

I just wanted to share this website for jewellery, I ordered myself a couple of pairs of earrings (magpies in celebration of my new tattoo and badgers because they are awesome!), the quality is amazing. And sterling silver too. They come in little velvet pouches or can pay extra for gift boxes. Came really fast too. They currently have 5 for £35 on the website, or 10% off for new customers not sure if they stack though.

Not in the 5 for £35 but they had some dragon earrings and necklace which look inspired by fourth wing if you have a romantasy fan to buy for! I was personally eyeing up the wolf and moon set. I will have to hint around my husband for Christmas! 😆

They had pretty much most animals you could think of and more.

Dreamland still have a sale on and prices look to be cheaper than Asda

Thanks so much but I checked out already. Very kind of you to offer!

Mountain Warehouse had an extra 15% sale items with FB15

ChristmasJumperz · 17/09/2025 12:52

@oriel2013 Sorry, I'm not sure how good they are in terms of width but we have these kind and find them really comfy and DD doesn't get so frustrated with the laces as she does with the other kinds of fastenings. Just got her the next size up at the weekend on offer at Decathlon £34.99. They also have other brands and inline skates if you're near a branch it's handy for trying on first

Had an email from Argos offering me £5 off a £50+ spend if I download the app, might be worth checking your inbox

A not very festive warning about roller blades. Please ensure your child uses knee pads. 4 weeks ago adult DS fell before he even pushed off to start skating , ( he has been skating for years). He shattered his kneecap into 4 pieces. He had an operation to wire the pieces back together and it will months before he will be able to resume his sporting activities. The right safety gear is so important. End of public service announcement!

To add to this, please wear wrist guards too. I took my daughter roller skating last February and fell before even getting onto the rink and broke my wrist, ended up having surgery. I’d rollerbladed for years as a kid/teen but still fell.

I love their jewellery - have bought several pairs for gifts and just got some for DD who’s recently had her ears pierced.

Thankyou, cheaper than the £29 at Asda?

hby9628 · 17/09/2025 13:47

Can anybody remember the name of the jewellery website that did the bundles last year? I did quite well on that. Think they were mystery bundles & it was 3 pairs for about £10.

GameOfJones · 17/09/2025 13:52

@BringMeTheBadgers I totally agree about SilverRainSilver for jewellery. I buy a lot of stuff from them via Etsy and always brilliant quality. I wear their stud and huggie hoop earrings all the time....sleep in them, shower with them in etc and have had no issues with tarnishing.

Londonmummy66 · 17/09/2025 13:55

@PumpkinSpicedTea I'd start a thread in AIBU or Chat titled "Help me find a Rainbow Magic book". There'll be a MNetter someone only too glad to get rid of one of the blasted things. Bane of my life when DD was in yr 2..............

Agree with this. I've just been checking my bookshelves and unfortunately don't have it, otherwise would have been happy to pop in the post 🎅

I think it was Solace. I'm wearing one of their pairs today!
