I’m after some ideas and inspiration for some Christmassy sewing!

Teen dd and I learned to use the sewing machine in the summer - we are very much beginners but have made some nice bags (too scared to do anything more complicated like clothes yet!)

We’ll probably make lots of bags for people as Christmas presents! But the fabric shop in town has lots of lovely Christmas fabrics in so I was thinking it’d be lovely to make some nice decorations or other Christmassy things.

Any ideas? We’re quite busy at work and school so will probably start making over the autumn…

Thank you for all the lovely ideas! I will have a leisurely read through of them again this weekend and perhaps even a poke around the fabric shop to find some material to get started.
@Londonmummy66 I really like the idea of making fabric gift bags, especially bottle bags made from old trousers - brilliant!
I’ll probably have a go at making some Christmas tree decorations too, we always get a new one each every year but they are so expensive and I think we could make some really nice ones - I love your hearts and Christmas puddings @CoralOP and I saw some really cute fat robins to make when I was googling.
Looking forward to weekends of festive sewing!

Furoshiki cloths are also super easy to make and great for Christmas. We have a few which are just fat quarters sewn together, they're great.

Christmas bunting is my go to, it’s so easy but makes a lovely gift too.

These are lovely and you don’t need Christmas fabric as florals work really well. ( These are made using Liberty fabric).

I love making mini stockings and embellishing them with scraps of braid, lace etc - I have a mixture made from DH's old shirts some are classic stockings and some are Victorian boot shapes. They go on the tree with mini presents for Christmas Eve (MIL was German so we had to find a way of combining traditions). I have some slightly larger white ones from an old sheet which I trimmed with red gingham ribbon. Sometimes they go in the window as part of a living advent calendar and sometimes I use wooden mini pegs to attach them to ribbon to make a garland. They are great hand sewing projects to do in front of the TV.
